One hint, albeit too late for this year, if you don't work in the summer, complete the form then. Then you have no income to provide proof of, and the form is much simpler. I complete mine in minutes x
Edit: I love the smell of T Gel, and Polytar is even better!
I love the smell of anything coal-tar based too, everyone thinks I'm weird :rolleyes:0 -

Or if you do have a summer job complete it after summer surely then same applies but the other way round?0 -
what happens to me? i'm just about to go into 2nd year, have managed to run 1st yr and go part time at my reasonably well-paying job, but have just handed in my notice. haven't taken out a loan so far and am hoping not to for 2ndf yerar either. am hoping for a part-time job, but will probably only get about 300-400 per month. do i qualify for the certificate ? will i have to wait til my crappy wages come through before i try to claim ?
ps- for the people who have psoriasis- if it's itchy, put in a handful of oats in the bath after you've run the water. as psoriasis is exacerbated by stress and oats are natural stress-busters, eating oats in any form will also help - yes... even flapjacks !!!
i have psoriasis of the scalp and strangely, the only thing that stops me itching is pantene shine! psoriderm scalp lotion has to be tried to be believed- fantastic stuff, works everywhere- on skin lesions -guttate (teardrop-shaped) & flexural (on elbows, knees and warm soft bits) i don't have brittle so not too sure about that-sorry and on those nasty wee white spots you get on the top of your arms too (spots are formed by too much keratin, and psoriasis is caused by the speeding up of skin renewal from over 100 days to 2 or 3- psoriderm is a keratolytic, which scoots off the nasty extra skin and hey presto... pink scalp and spot free arms !! yeay ! lasts for ages too.0 -

I work in a Pharmacy and can confirm you definatley qualify for free prescriptions if you are a full time student.
Just fill out HC1 they will then send you a HC2 which you need to show each time you go to Pharmacy as they will need the number from it.
If you need a prescription before you recieve your HC2 ask for a NHS receipt and you can claim the prescription charges back, once you have your HC2...........

'Qualify' doesn't mean you will get. Very few actually get the full cost of prescriptions. Most will get help over £XX of dental or optical services...April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200 -
redmel1621 - thanks for this. Am I right in thinking that my son, who will be a first year student from next week but not 19 until next June will get free prescriptions without one of these forms anyway?
Yes 16-18 yr olds get free prescriptions if in full time ed, it is only when he turns 19 he will have to start form filling...

I've just started uni and have this form to fill out. Does it cover doctors/dentists and eye care as well?
I wear glasses and have to change at least once a year which costs £150+. Help with that would be much appreciated.0 -
I'm not sure if it will pay for the glasses, but I would have thought it would cover the eye examination.
Fill in the form and send it off anyway. Once you get your HC-2 card it will obviously tell you more then.
I'll have another look at the web site.
EDIT:From the web site:-
The HC1 form can be used to claim help with NHS Prescriptions; NHS Dental Treatment; NHS wigs and fabric supports; sight tests, glasses and contact lenses; and travel to hospital for NHS treatment.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........
