    Evening Frugal Friends,
Not so much today as have had family here all day, but have kept the faith:
*Dad treated me to a coffee out.
*Free Guardian from Waitrose (by combining our shopping to make up the £5 minimum spend).
*Very big bags of YS broccoli (in perfect condition) for 49p each. Bought one bag. It has already fed 4 people with leftovers in the freezer & there is plenty left for making a batch of cream of broccoli soup.
*Usual eclectic selection of totally random gifts from my Mum: 3 tins cat food, 1 box man-size tissues "ready for when you catch a horrible cold" , 5 balls chunky purple yarn, a large pile of magazines, 1 sheet of cut out & make Christmas gift tags, 3 packs paper napkins, 1 plant, 1 cake-pops tin, 1 recycled jam jar, 1 recycled bottle, 8 knitted mini Christmas puddings, 1 storage box & 1 bottle of Schloer!
*Fed everyone with slow cooker steak & kidney and there's a large portion for the freezer too so a 'free' freezer dive meal there.
    *Entered a competition.
*Used leftover lunch for tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Knitted a bit more sock & will be knitting more blanket squares later.
    Cheers,
    F x

    Evening all,

    Woolisox, sorry to hear that.
KatyAnn, sounds like a lovely afternoon
    Dawn, your soup sounds lovely
Bob, That's a tricky one, hope they got back to you.
    Ziggy, I'd love a lie-in!!
Lambda & La E, hope you are both feeling better.

    * We had a lovely day, kids really enjoyed the science fair and it all was free which was great.
    * Fixed dh's watch with a bit of superglue
    * Ordered books from the library after taking them out of my amaz0n shopping basket!
    * Watched the end of one of the lord of the rings films with the kids, dh loves them and is enjoying sharing them with the kids (me?.... I'd rather watch paint dry!:rotfl:)
    * Took a ys joint of meat out of the freezer to have when we have family over for the day tomorrow.
    * Dh & I are watching the end of a film we started last night from our stash
    * Sorted the last of the info I needed for our tax returns

I think that's it for me for today.

  • Morning all :hello: happy hump day :D

Up and about so I thought I'd post my list:

Shower and let hair dry naturally
Hot drink for commute, left over bolegnase for lunch
Last muffin for breakfast, plus DH bought home a small tea cake from work that was gratis - may freeze (or eat for breakfast too ;))
    Check banking, surveys and FPL
    Meal from planner/stores
Additional DW load on cheap leccy as we were up early
No heating on this morning, it's was mild here last night and again this morning
Look at calendar for rest of year and work out who I need to get cards for, will pop to town tomorrow and get them whilst collecting two click and collect parcels. Can hand deliver one on Friday rather than paying postage the week after

Think that's about all I can think of before my second cup of coffee :o
  • Morning PF :D I wasn't up as early as you today! I'm a little annoyed with myself as realised yesterday my MOT runs out on 30th. Managed to book it in for today at 3 but if it fails I'm stuffed as doubt they will be able to do the repairs at that late time and I need my car as working Thurs Fri & Mon. Just fingers crossed really! I know I need to change the driver side windscreen wiper and a lightbulb which I will do myself before dropping it off. Will also check tyres so as to reduce potential for it to fail. Annoyed with myself as had I been organised then I could have had this all done last week. If it fails I guess I will have to speak to my boss about working from home on Monday or taking the day off...

Today I am going to task myself with only a couple of jobs to increase chances of getting them done!

    * pay CT
    * call Inland Rev
    * make cinnamon buns - really doing it today!
    * all meals from stores - got lo spag out of freezer for dinner tonight due to car
    * potentially go to lottie tonight when oh comes home but will depend on car situation - I went yesterday but only got about 40 mins before dusk came on  evening lottie sessions are about to end now :(
    * photo some things for fleabay
    * washing in machine at the moment. Will hang out when done and then put on the airer this evening to finish it off
    * heating off. Jumpers and cardis on!x
    * home fun with madam and a trip to the park while waiting for car
    * Build a B*ar are doing an offer where a £5 gift card gets you £10 of credit. Need to check out how long the the cards last and if long enough am going to purchase £30 for dgd's birthday (in July!) for her celebration. It's what she did yesterday for a friend's birthday with a trip to Mcd's afterwards (there were 3 of them). It was a huge hit so would be a massive saving if they last longer than 6 months :j

That's it! Have a lovely day guys :A

    Morning all,

Will catch up on everyone's posts in a sec. Was a mad-busy day in work yesterday so didn't get a chance to post.

Hugs to all those who are under the weather.

Last day in work for me before my holiday. Woooo!

    The mission
*B/D from stores. L to be bought from my pocket money as could not cope with brain power this morning.
*Get through washing before holiday! - asked OH to peg out the first load
*Finish all my work! - impossible
    *Heating off
*Email course tutor with my apologies that I will not be returning - done
*Keep an eye on my ebay sales (made a good decision to sell two things) - first has sold for £36 - only £9 less than we paid for it so not bad.
*Go to bank at lunch time to pay money in that mil passed back to me - done

Will add more as I think of them

    all the best

  • Morning all :hello:
Not doing too well getting onto my computer at the moment. Real life keeps throwing things at me and I've been struggling for the past week or so. Just trying to maintain my focus on stepping up to the plate and making sure that me and the kids are ok and that I can balance the books. To do that I'm starting to prioritise my own health. As per my trainer's advice, I've cut out a load of the rubbish I've been eating and have started going to our new L!dl in town every day for fresh veggies. I can't tell if I'm feeling better yet or not but I'm still going so that's good.
Other than that I'm plodding on with handmade Christmas and gifts and trying to make sure I sleep as well as I can.
Hope everyone is doing well. I will try and at least check in. That will be my first step at getting back on track.

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Keep going Cat. Thinking of you.

Thank you LuckyLady it's a bit of a mess up all round TBH. Turns out im not covered. OH has DenPlan but when he last choose his benefits package I was pregnant so covered for almost 2 years on the NHS. But I just haven't been able to get myself there for a checkup this year till now. The surgery is up a flight of stairs with no lift so not buggy friendly. Plus I have no one to leave my daughter with anyway. So by the time I took DS do his check up I have missed out on free treatment by 2 weeks. Very annoying. Oh well!
P.S how can you hate LOTR its amazing :)

    Afternoon Campers,
Busy day planned. The money saving bits are:
*Eating up leftovers for my lunch.
*Making tomorrow's packed lunch & also a porridge pot for breakfast.
*2 loads of laundry pegged outside on the line.
*Dinner in slow cooker - Chipotle black bean chilli. Should be enough for extra portion(s) for freezer too.
*Made bread dough for onion & rosemary foccaccia.
*Cashed out of Ipsos surveys for another £10 voucher.
*Write birthday card & letter today so still in good time for 2nd class postage instead of 1st.
*Find John Lewis voucher stash & use one or two to buy something special to cook for an anniversary meal tomorrow night.
*Make list of all the jobs I could usefully do in town tomorrow when I shall have the wheels. (Yay!!)
*My £5 Body Shop loyalty points voucher was about to expire so I have treated myself to an enormous pot of their body butter RRP = £28. Currently in the sale for £15. After applying voucher, I've paid £10, plus it was free postage. AND that £10 is from my October 'Personal Spends' so zero effect on bank account/budget. How much do I love vouchers?!
Hope everyone having as good a day as possible.
Bobarella - Is 'LOTR' a certain well-known trilogy involving battles for middle-earth, gnomes, swords, etc? If so, I am absolutely not a fan either! Couldn't even make it past page 1 of 'The Hobbit'! I have watched the LOTR films & they are technically brilliant, but by the 3rd one, I honestly could care less what happened to the bloody ring or any of the characters in it!! I think I mostly got through the first one because at least I'd got Sean Bean to look at! mr f & my oldest nephew both love it.
    Right, must shake a leg,
