Good morning ladies! Half-term is in full swing....joy...
I'm in but lurking rather than flying. I'll attempt some feeble flapping around the chidlers, but not promising much
Really glad to hear your sister's op went well Valli. Thinking of you both x
LW - I'm sure you'll pass the woof test with flying colours. You're a great host and the lady visiting will see that for sure!
I'm going bra shopping next month YL - I've booked an actual morning off from mum/wife duties with a friend and we are going to Chester - :j
Contracts on building work signed and exchanged yesterday. Accommodation payment from insurers agreed in full (my insurers have been fabulous from the start), digging machinery arriving at the weekend and architect lady visiting today to discuss phase two of our renovation works. Very excited
Mrs MP - glad to hear your precious ones are safe. Very scary...0 -

Valli I'm not on Facebook either but would also love to take part in the Christmas card exchange again, do I need to pm you? Thank you in advance
Busy today as need to get loads of washing hung out for dd3, got normal plus extra shift at work then round dd3s for an afternoon of scrubbing down
Went to see the light between oceans on free preview tickets, it was beautifully filmed and as I expected from the book heartbreakingly sad. Definitely a no winners situation with the moral dilemma of just because you so desperately want something should you take it even when you know it's not yours to have is the centre of the film along with all the consequences the guilt brings. Several eyes were leaking, including mine.
Have a good day allSPC~12 ot 124

Hello Ladies  I know I've been away for a long time (life hasn't been kind) but I'd like to come back please
It's great to "see" so many old faces so hopefully someone may remember me
I know I'm a day behind but I shall try to catch up
I'll update later xx0 -
Morning all,
I'm going for a full day of painting, sanding, and briwaxing today, but I will squeeze in the daily stuff and a bit of ironing.
Dizzyhow exciting, and I'm so glad everything is moving on.
Mrsmp I dreamt about a fire at work last night, must have been thinking of your DD. When I was at Uni we had a housefire, it was scary but it is only now I have my own children that I understand how my parents must have felt.
I also dreamt about Colin Firth, but that is another story!
Right, must get dressed, but I may have a coffee first. I love being off work!0 -
Looking at the photos of her flat (and all the washing I'm getting to wash the stink out of) the smoke damage is bad enough and they just got the smoke seeping in through vents etc so the downstairs flat that actually had the fire must be horrendous. They spoke to both insurance groups yesterday and and someone is coming from buildings to check the ceiling of the kitchen below them and will check their kitchen floor joists from underneath while there. someone is also coming out from insurance to check what the clean up of their flat will cost and give them a price so they can decide if to pay excess and claim, pay privately to have it done or to carry on doing it themselves. They are making a start to minimise the smell but have been told photos will be taken into account t as they aren't sue when they'll get there.
I don't think you fully realise what flood and fire damage is like until you have to deal with it.
Years ago i laws had similar problem when joined on neighbour's had a fire in their bungalow- luckily it was only stuff in the attic that got smoked and the fire didn't spread through. It should really be a warning to us all about the amount of combustibles we stack up in our homes.
Anyway on to filling, line is full of washing so I'm hoping the damp lifts and the sun appears. Just going to throw a veggie lasagne together for tea (so Dh can have the leftovers for tomorrow's lunch then I better make a move.
Ds2 has got a funeral to attend on Thursday so got to make sure his black shirt is ironed and ready, he's explained to college and swapped his work shifts. I think he has grown up so fast in the last month.SPC~12 ot 124

Morning all,
Woke up this morning to 1/4" standing water in the back hall that is being replastered:eek: One of the radiator valves had been knocked where the radiator had been removed. Plasterer assures me all his stuff is ok including the bags of plaster - and all the towels used have now been rinsed and are on the line.
Nigella's easy almond cake and also a double choc loaf cake are in the oven - house has been tidied. Fridge in kitchen has been sorted but later I will go and clean the fridge freezer in the garage - dh has turned it on ready for the party. Will work my way through the kitchen list. Need to go to Burnley later to see if I can get glasses ordered for Saturday - our Mr M's has them all out on loan already at the weekend.“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Hugs to all, I think some of you need them.
MrsMP, to can also get large industrial fans, they are about 4 foot by 4 foot, to plug them in and they blow the smoke / smell out at hurricane pace.
