  • Re your doors CrazyChik...mine are painted white but I have a lot of pine furniture and tbh I prefer waxing it as the varnish tends to wear off with heavy use.

Anniebooklover, I had something similar. When I was having DD, towards the end I was being scanned every two weeks by my specialist (he had a little scanner in his office) because of problems with growth with DS and because she was an unstable lie. Several times he referred to her as "her", so although I hadn't asked at the official scans, I wasn't at all surprised when she arrived (although the surgeon was, as he thought he was delivering a diagonal baby but in the 10 minutes they were prepping me, she moved to sideways again).

    Morning everyone

What a gorgeous day it is in Warrington - perfect blue sky you would think its eighty degrees looking out then but a trip to the bin soon put the dampners on any sun bathing dreams its freezing:D

Got a dentist appointment today at 3 but its just a clean and polish which I love having so no problem. Where my dentist is there is a QVC outlet shop so I will have a little mooch round there I suspecticon7.gif - its very hit and miss but I have had some good bargains from there in the past.

Last night I made a massive pan of Glads Lentil Dhal as I had some potatos and onions to use up and it was absolutely gorgeous. Will have some more tonight and there will still be 4 portions for the freezer so good deal:j

Mrs Mix - Happy birthday to DD hope you enjoy the party
Pen Pin - I have stuff in the freezer that is well over 6 months:eek: hasnt killed me yet;)
Grannyboons mum - Have a lovely birthday
Mrs Micawber - Hope your sister is ok that must be very worrying
Haribo - Get to the doctors girl a course of antibiotics should see it off

Hi all! :j :hello: I'm back. Got home late last night - we should have sailed on Sunday but delayed it for a day. Had glorious sunshine for the whole of last week so coming back to the cooler weather has come as a bit of a shock. I've only had time for a quick skim of the thread and will catch up later but, meanwhile, (((hugs))) to all in need.

I'm longing to get up to date with all the news but first I have about six loads for the WM and a loaf of bread to make! Holiday is definitely over!

Will call in later but have a great day everyone.

  • Hello again...

Just thought id do a quick OS update - whilst waiting for mum to get home so i can ring her and find out how sis is doing.... thanks for all the good wishes... im sure she will be ok....we come from sturdy stock - if you don't count all the ailments, and bits dropping off we have :rotfl:

    Anyway... i have:-
    • got the stock done, and cooling
    • got 1 batch of sage pastry and 1 batch of cheese pastry resting in the fridge..thats 1kilo of flour gone:rotfl:
    • the beetroots are cooked and are cooling down in the water - trying to avoid peeling them yet, as i won't be able to resist em then :o
    • have done the mashed potato, with loads of fried onions, cheese n seasoning -just waiting for it to cool before i turn it into pasties
    • got the diced potato, carrot, onion and pork cooling - then that will go into pasties too.... i got some "soup meat" they call it here.. bones with quite a bit of meat left on them - soups are a big thing here..anyway they cost roughly 35p and when i have slow cooked them and pulled off all the meat there was 1lb exactly:j - so that should make quite a few pasties:D
I think that is about it so far, still its kept me distracted and will fill the freezer with something a bit different...
I think the other pies/pasties may have to wait until tomorrow....

Haribojunkie.... sorry you are feeling so poorly..you know if you stick some dried sage in a pot with some hot water, leave until cool enough to drink, strain it -you can then gargle with it and it seems to numb your throat for a while... tastes a bit odd, but better than a lot of drug based ones....

hope everyone is having a good day... better get off and see if i can get hold of mum....then its back to the kitchen for me

  • Welcome back Moiliere  hope you enjoyed your break.
Miss Mix & GrannyGrannyBoon :DHappy Birthday
Heavenleigh Hope the phone call comes soon. My DN (the one that was in Oxford) had a scan last Friday. She's having a girl. The name is now the surprise.
Haribo Sorry to hear you're so poorly. An old scottish remedy recommended by Twink is to gargle lavender oil. Should sort out your throat :D Well what's left of it.

Think I will hop into the shower and read some more of my book. It's Hovel in the Hills & I've really enjoyed it so far. Recommended on here of course. ;)

Thanks also to the [strike]witches[/strike] ladies of old style for the herbal remedies. Tempted as I am to gargle with sage and/or lavender I think I will save myself for a hot toddy later. ;)
