I got their Indian call centre and the guy was really good, bent over backwards to get me discounts. I think it is much easier to haggle over the phone than via online chat; maybe you could try that?

I doubt it. They know what they can offer and try to get away with as little as possible, as this affects their incentives.

I was happy with the outcome, teddysmum and now have prices locked in at somewhat less than I was paying before the increases.

    Thx.

    Hi sevenonine,

You'd have to register and post on the Community separately, as this is separate to My Account. Please let us know if you have any problems with this.

    Thanks,

  • I have been quoted (last night) for "a Fast Broadband package (which is not fibre), with Unlimited UK call boost and the International call boost, up to 17MB, also privacy features (which I don't need) caller barring (doesn't it need a special 'phone to show this?) etc. etc. at £32.95.

I told her I don't need fast broadband as I don't use gaming or watch videos/movies; my needs are for a standard pkg for emailing, surfing the net, catchup occasionally on BBC music (Proms) for about £25 (offered earlier). However she suggested I talk to Customer Services; but as it was 9.30pm I should contact them today.

As also suggested by a poster above, it may be more productive to ring the number she gave me - not sure if that is the loyalty team number.

    Any advice gratefully accepted.

'Fast broadband' is just their regular broadband. The basic broadband is about £23, so £10 for the unlimited UK and international calls sounds about right.

If you ring the regular number, 020 3441 5550 works for me, and tell the robot woman you are, "thinking of leaving" that should get you the retentions team.

As far as I know, they deliver fibre to the box in the street then either continue the higher speeds on to individual homes via wi-fi, or the lower speeds via your existing landline. This is because technology has yet to discover a way to deliver more than 17mb via copper (at least at a realistic cost).

The only way to get fibre speeds is either this way or via an actual fibre optic cable to your property. This method is expensive and available only through Virgin. The limit for copper used to be 2mb so who knows what the future holds?

If this is not the case, no doubt there will be people along to shoot me down in flames because my knowledge is out of date.

You really should not post incorrect info like this as you clearly have not got a clue about real world practices and some readers may actually believe the crap that you have posted.
