The 'who leaves feedback first' debate has been done to death on various forums, there is nothing laid down about the 'right way' and as feedback is voluntary it has to be a matter of choice.
The usual argument is that since a seller can only leave a positive, withholding feedback for a buyer serves no purpose, so it might as well be left as soon as payment is received. You might also be unlucky enough to run into a person who lives for eBay, like the person I responded to earlier, who thinks it appropriate to leave poor feedback for a seller who has not left them feedback.
Basically though sellers sell for money, buyers buy things they want - giving feedback too much importance is a waste of time. Leave it or don't leave it, it is not important.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks Soolin I agree with your points there. I did see feedback as a valuable part of eBay in the past (maybe circa 2006!), but have to agree that it's becoming less and less valuable.0

You are very welcome.0 -
For people like me who make hand crafted items feedback is really important.
It's good to know the item has arrived in one piece but, more importantly that they like it!0 -

Other side of the coin.
You may get me when im having a bad day and decide that you should have left feedback by now and im going to leave your feedback first and it wont be nice. Low stars and a negative.
As a buyer i have bid or bought the item on a BIN and have paid instantly. My job is done. There is nothing else for me to do except wait for my feedback and my goods. Why delay that?
Is it really of so little value that you dont leave the buyer feedback when they have completed their tasks?
You may think ahh contact ebay CS and get it removed because in obviously deranged (only partially)
But when they look they see if have bought a LOT of stuff over the past few days and left nobody else a negative.
Signed.
A deranged ebay user who thinks sellers should leave feedback first

Other side of the coin is that I've bought two items from eBay recently - both times I made offers on a BIN item that were accepted. Got the items, were happy and left appropriate (positive) feedback. I've not received any feedback from sellers. It's mildly irritating and to be honest, I wouldn't buy from them again. Feedback is supposed to be a two way street.0

A sign of the times I suppose.
At one time it was rare for feedback to not be left but I have noticed it more and more now.
In one case I bent over backwards to help the buyer. Answered all their questions, gave a discount and held off posting until they came back from holiday gave them feedback but gone none back.
Now I do not leave feedback as a seller until they buyer has done so.0 -

Why is that though? Seems to hark back to the times that sellers could leave buyers a negative for a bit of tit for tat.
Buyer leaves a neg because the seller failed in some way and the seller leaves a negative for the buyer as revenge.
Curious for your reason to leave feedback second.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
