First Choice price goes up while online

  • The price isn't confirmed until you book. There's nothing sly about it. The terms and conditions you read actually say
"Prices can go up or down. We will be able to tell you or your travel agent the up-to-date price of your chosen travel arrangements and of any other services advertised by us before confirming your booking."

Try looking at Thomas Cook website. There is often a line comes up before confirming saying the price of your holiday has increased by X, or has decreased by X.

It's got nothing to do with which browser you use, or cookies.

    Yes it has.
  • If you cannot read English then perhaps being on a UK forum is not for you.

I've read it again Steve, aside from the lack of punctuation it reads like it's the answer to a random question.

    Maybe its just me.

Its like taking a £5 bottle of wine to the checkout only to be told its £5.50 as you're digging your money out...

No it isn't, the wine is not subject to dynamic pricing, you'd be told it's £5 at the checkout.

    Dear Punctuation,

I want you inside of me.

..... all the sickness claims being processed which has added expense for the rest of that travel.

    Claims just reduce profits.

Do you really believe for one second that any major Company would not pass on any additional costs/losses to the paying customers ?

If you do think that they would not pass this down the line then I believe you should remove those rose tinted glasses as this is 2016 where ethics within a Company and fair play towards a customer do not go hand in hand.

Ok thanks all. I've always booked my holidays online and have never come across this before so was just wondering if this was a new fiddle!!

It's always been that way, if other people are booking the same holiday at the same time then demand goes up as does the price, I guess you've been lucky in the past, even if you use a high street travel agent, the quote they give you will based on booking at the time the quote is made, they will not guarantee that price if you are going to go away and think about it for a couple of days.
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world
  • Yes it has.

No it hasn't. We're not talking about the price increasing every time you search (not that that has anything to do with cookies). It increases while you're actually going through the booking process.

It's dynamic pricing which has nothing to do with actual costs, the focus is revenue streams.

It's dynamic pricing which has nothing to do with actual costs, the focus is revenue streams and the market that can stand such revenues.
