First Choice price goes up while online

I am ready to book my family holiday for next May and have found exactly what I want at a price I am happy with. I proceed with the booking then a message pops up on screen to say "while you have been online your holiday cost has gone up by £11". Me being the eternal pessimist am thinking this is yet another sly move by holiday companies to get more money out of us!! Surely they have to stick with the price I select and not put it up while im in the process of booking?! Has this happened to anyone else?? Feeling angry & cheated!!

They dont have to honour any price prior to paying for an item its no different to a shop/online retailer doesnt have to honour prices as its an offer to treat and they can refuse to sell you anything.
Holiday companies etc have dynamic pricing and that price will be based on the last time they checked the price of the holiday the final check they do is prior to you paying and thats when any difference will come to light.
Finally "angry and cheated" over £11 hmmm if you feel that hard done by we'll have a whip round for youLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
Im not hard done by - im just a bit annoyed at the principle of this seemingly underhand extra charge. I was just about to pay then the message pops up to say the price has gone up!! If they are doing this to thousands of people while they are making their bookings - its money for nothing!! As I said I am always doubtful of things like this. I will book it anyway so a whip round would be great0

Its like taking a £5 bottle of wine to the checkout only to be told its £5.50 as you're digging your money out - how can that be right??0

Had this loads of times with various airlines. Even Amazon actually.

Two factors here to consider one the fact that the pound is lower and the other part all the sickness claims being processed which has added expense for the rest of that travel.0

The price isn't confirmed until you book. There's nothing sly about it. The terms and conditions you read actually say
"Prices can go up or down. We will be able to tell you or your travel agent the up-to-date price of your chosen travel arrangements and of any other services advertised by us before confirming your booking."
Try looking at Thomas Cook website. There is often a line comes up before confirming saying the price of your holiday has increased by X, or has decreased by X.
It's got nothing to do with which browser you use, or cookies.0 -
Ok thanks all. I've always booked my holidays online and have never come across this before so was just wondering if this was a new fiddle!!0

If you cannot read English then perhaps being on a UK forum is not for you.0
