Shopping has been delivered today and because we have been abit naughty with takeaways we had some food left in the cupboards and freezer so it was under £80 for the next 2 weeks. I've just had a message from o2 saying I've gone over my data allowance! I never go over it usually but the internet at home has been playing up so I was using it then and I was then tipped over my allowance when I was asked for directions by two old men who's satnav wasn't picking up the street they needed! I'm hoping that because I stopped to help them and went over my data allowance in doing so I will get some good karma in return!!

  • Well done Jessy - you're bad month sounds not too terrible and you did a good thing for those guys.
Don't worry too much about the odd bad month. It's a marathon not a sprint so there are bound to be times when we slip up or spend more than we intend to. We need to cut ourselves some slack so we don't get disheartened and give in :)

  • I know what you mean Jessy, I keep thinking about the next move too, but the longer I'm in this house the less interest I'll end up handing over to the bank. Also, we've just remortgaged and are at the top of the interest band so I'd need to pay off more to keep the LTV and interest rate similar when I move. That's my thinking anyway... But it doesn't keep me off Rightmove ;)

I'll ditto Ch4rly on that - I'm desperate to move, but the plan is to wait another two years until our fix comes to an end.... in the meantime it's a case of chucking every penny at the mortgage so that it's not a horrifically large one when we do move!

    (Likewise about RM too!)

Thanks ch4rly and MV. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who is desperate to move! I do love our little house because it was our first house and I think that make's it feel abit special but it just doesn't work for us anymore! We have no drive so we have to park on the road and because it's such a busy main road the council have put parking restrictions on it meaning we can't park during the week between 8am-9:30am and then between 4:30pm-6pm, this is ok while DH is at work but a pain if he's on holiday or off poorly as we have to park the car down the road in wickes car park to avoid getting a ticket! It would be perfect for someone that doesn't drive and needs to get a bus into town! Also DH works further away now than what he did when we first moved in so it would be nice to live closer to his work so we can spend more time together and save money on petrol! Then there's my mum, with her MS I can tell now she's really struggling to get up and down the stairs when she comes to visit and the thought that she wouldn't be able to come to visit anymore really upsets me because I know she likes the change of scenery (she lives in a small village in a rural area so can't really get out alot). That's why we want to move asap but it's not worth doing it now because we don't want to be in negative equity and want to be able to use as much money as we can from this house towards our new one.

Anyway enough of my rantings! I'm off to look at houses on rightmove! Lol!

  • It's difficult when there is a conflict between head and heart, and I truly sympathise with your difficult decision as I was in the same position a few years ago when my dad and father-in-law got ill, but you also have the added issue of the house not working for you, which doesn't help. In the end we decided to bite the bullet and buy a second house and rent the first one, which enabled us to be near family when needed. It has been a godsend for us and our families, however it has come at a cost (a big cost!) and all situations are unique so it is up to you guys to decide what is best for you. It might be worth getting an up-to-date valuation and find out exactly where you stand so that if you are in a lot of negative equity it might put the thoughts of moving from your mind but if you have equity in the property it might be feasible to start thinking about moving. Good luck, whatever you decide!

Thanks ch4rly. I know we're not in a position to move any time soon, I just have to learn to be patient and my mum always says to me 'what's meant to be will be' so I keep thinking when the time does come we will find our perfect home!!
In the meantime we're going to knuckle down and get as much of this mortgage paid off as possible!

It's been 9 days since I have had a takeaway!! I know that might not sound like much but when you've been having one or two a week for the past month or so that's quite an achievement! Lol! It's my friend's 40th birthday party this Saturday so if I can resist one until after that I will be really pleased and hopefully look nice and slim in my dress! Oh and I will have saved some money!

I've got £5 coming from one of the survey websites and as I've made an overpayment for February that will go in the EF. I'm getting close to claiming some money from a couple of other websites so I'm trying to keep on top of those but I find when I'm getting close to claiming they don't seem to send any surveys for ages! That might just be me being a bit paranoid though!

    Have a great day!

Our monthly mortgage payment came out today so £276 and a £50 overpayment takes the new total to £65,374. I've checked all the overpayments we've made and we have £2,153.91 of our allowance left that we can pay until August when it resets. With that in mind I will aim to do overpayments of about £400 a month, where possble!

Still no takeaway! We had sausage casserole made in the slow cooker for tea last night and I made abit extra for my lunch today and I'm going to make pie, chips and beans for tea tonight. I have to admit I'm dying for my favourite indian takeaway because it is amazing and they do a cheese and onion naan bread which I think I would kill for! Lol!

Anyway enough about food because I'm only making myself want it more!:rotfl:
    Have a lovely day!
