  • Just a thought, do you pay for your boosters every time? Vets4Pets do a vaccine for life plan that costs £99 and it covers initial vaccine and every annual booster after. Last time I was in someone joined with an older cat that just needed annual boosters. It would cost me £33 every year for a booster so it's already paid for itself. Might be worth thinking about if the boosters are pricey.

Hi ch4rly2002, yeah our vets offer this as well and I thought about doing it. The only problem is that we are wanting to move in the next few years and it won't be anywhere near to the vets we use now. They only have a few practices and we wouldn't be near any of them! Once we move and find a new vet I will have another look at doing it. x

Mortgage payment has come out of the bank this morning and the new total is £65,674.00. Our LTV is now 76% so it's looking good for being under 75% when our current deal comes to an end next year, which means we should get a good rate!

I'm going to wait until the monthly interest has been added on before making any overpayments as I like to have a round figure! I usually like to overpay about £500 each month but as we are getting to our 10% limit we only have an allowance of £2000 left until August so I will spread it out over the months. As I've said before the left over money will be going into the emergency fund which is at £3000 and I would like to get this upto £5000.

My friend's 40th birthday is coming up at the beginning of March and she is having a party so I went with her last night to see the function room and talk about the decorations. She has decided on a winter wonderland theme because her husband is treating her to a trip to Iceland (I joked that it would be the supermarket and she was not amused!). I've already ordered a gift for her and I will give her some money for her trip. I had to laugh at her winter wonderland theme because we've just had Christmas and if she'd thought about this before we could have got everything we needed in the past couple of months but now everything has gone!!! On the plus side, I had a look through my wardrobe and found a dress that I wore once 5 years ago and that I amazingly still fit in!!! This solves my 'do I buy a new dress' dilemma and I'm really pleased I won't have to go through the hassle of shopping and buying something I'm probably only going to wear once, like the other dresses in my wardrobe! (I'm sure DH is pleased he won't have to take me shopping too!)

    Anyway enough of my ramblings!
Have a great day and don't let the miserable weather get you down, IT WILL BE SUMMER SOON (well that's what I keep chanting to myself!!)

  • Good luck Jessie with getting your mortgage down, I paid mine off last August and I have to say that it really is a weight off mine and DH minds.

We have decided that we are still going to put away what we would have paid on our mortgage into our newly named account 'For The House'

Because we have been concentrating on getting the house paid off, we havent really done as much decorating as we would have liked due to the finances, now looking round I want everything doing in one go. DH isn't going to the pleased with my list ...... lol

First port of call will be a new bathroom & flooring, new carpets for the hall stairs & landing, and maybe a holiday thrown in for good measure, but I know what going to happen, eldest will want a car for when she starts Uni so will probably end up paying half for that.

Its so nice to see that bank balance growing nicely, that it greaves me to spend it x

Hi alittlemadam! Congratulations on paying off your mortgage!! I bet it's a fantastic feeling and I know when I pay off mine I will go around telling everyone!! Lol! That is until we move and we have another one to pay off!

I finally got a new bathroom last year after waiting 9 years!! We got it from wickes and I have to say they were vey good and the fitters we had were great, very quick and good at cleaning up after themselves! I hope you get everything done that you want and you'll just have to find a way to keep DH sweet!

If you have to pay some money to your eldest for her car make sure you tell her when she's out of uni and has a high flying/paying job she has to buy something for you! :rotfl:

Well we've fallen off the wagon abit this week!! DH needed a new part for his computer which cost £80, I went and had a tattoo which cost £90, we had a takeaway over the weekend which was £20 and I went over my shopping budget of £100 by £15!
I'm trying not to be too hard on myself as we have already put some money into the EF this month and there should still be some money left over to make an overpayment on the mortgage before DH gets paid on the 20th.

On the plus side when I had my Tesco delivery today I got a free 'Bolognese Stuffed Peppers' meal box, which included a jar of Bolognese sauce, three peppers, a block of cheese and two packets of mince meat! I was really pleased and thought this is a brilliant idea from Tesco, although I was slighty annoyed because I'd already bought peppers with my order so we have a lot of them to eat! Being a veggie I knew we wouldn't eat the mince meat so I've given that to my next door neighbour as she had given me some quorn products the week before that they had tried but didn't like.

The box the meal kit came in will come in handy for my friends 40th as I will wrap it in wrapping paper and cut a slot in the top so people can slot the birthday cards in it that they've bought and any envelopes carrying money so she won't lose any! I'm trying to use the 'Waste Not, Want Not' theory!! :D

Enjoy the rest of the week!

Well February has been a shocking month!! Alot of money spent on the garden as I decided I wanted a pond, I'm hoping it will attract more birds and frogs that will eat the slugs and snails in the garden so they don't go on to eat the veggies I grow like last year! DH is on a lads holiday so god knows how much he is going to have spent by the time he gets back on Wednesday and we have been eating alot of takeaways this month!! I have resisted the temptation of a takeaway though since DH went away on Saturday and I'm determine for us not to have one until mid March!!

DH has been paid today so I have updated our spreadsheets and I've made an overpayment of £185.38 for February which brings the total to £65,700.00. Even though we've had a bad month I'm pleased with this figure and I'm sure we can get under £60,000 by the end of the year, well that's the plan anyway! :p

I've had £10 come in from one of my survey sites and I won £15 on the horses at the weekend from a 50p bet so it's not all bad!

    Have a lovely day!
