Motorists, what to do about cyclists who constantly break the high way code???

Whatever happened to Road Safety campaigns?
Something like this-

Cycling groups and advocates take great exception to things like that, they seem to see it as akin to victim blaming.0 -
So what is the definition of "under the influence" ? Genuinely curious - is it the motoring measure - which as you say, you can't make a cyclist (or I assume horse rider or any non motorised conveyance using road user) produce, or something more woolly, as in obviously incapable of control of said conveyance ? Does that include being on your own two feet ?
The Licensing Act allows for prosecution of people drunk in a pub but you don't see that often either!
As for under the influence, see if you can get Brat to come post on this topic, I'd guess if you were wobbling all over, slurring speech, unable to stand up straight etc. Probably down to the police hence why some idiots who are drunk and swear at the police get told to go home (either just a strong suggestion or via one of those official warnings to leave and not come back until next day) and if they do, that's it while others get a night in the nick.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I sit corrected! I don't remember it from when I learnt to drive 30 years ago. Mind you - I did actually go out and buy an updated copy a few years back because reading debates here made me think there must be new rules I'm not properly aware of.
Here's a thought for you cyclists... the HC doesn't in this case require you to stop but that the pedestrian has priority. So I'd interpret that as passing in front of any pedestrian is breaking the rule but slowing slightly and passing behind all pedestrians with a reasonable gap is probably OK. For motorists, it's effectively stop as there would rarely be space to pass behind unless the pedestrian is 95% of the way across already. For motorcyclists? Pass behind with a bigger gap and low revs?
As for passing pedestrians courtesy should be used and they should be passed safely. I think there's a rule for all road users about using courtesy.0 -

Political Correctness then
That explains why when I was a kid I was subjected to countless adverts warning me of the dire consequences of my own stupid/thoughtless actions pointing out it was my own fault.
Now the only adverts I see are for Ambulance Chasers who can get you compo if you are forced (at gunpoint?) by your employer to do something witlessly stupid that results in injury. :rotfl:I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Yep, gone are the days of the Green Cross Code adverts on TV, posters dotted around school and even on the covers of exercise books. More likely nowadays to have the shroud wavers from Brake or RoadPeace invited into schools to talk about the evils of the motor vehicle.0 -

He wasn't wearing high visibility clothing or anything, and he literally stopped right in front of me and pointed his fingers at his eyes and then me numerous times as if to say "Open your eyes.."
I felt like shouting at him to wear high visibility clothing but it was too late by the time I thought of it
The Police attending road accidents say that they very often hear the words:
'suddenly' and
'The car/lorry/motorbike/bicycle came out of nowhere'.
Try looking harder in future please or you might one day be saying something like that to a police officer.
Those words are not a defence if the accident is your fault.0 -

In 1973 it was Willie weasel's fault for playing in the road.
In 2016 it is the driver's fault for not noticing that Willie was playing in the road (fairly obvious as he has been dashing across with Harry Hare for half the advert) and slowing down ready to stop when he does it again.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

U have included one advert which includes a car hitting a motorbike, another car hitting pedestrians and a third giving facts on life chances for pedesrians being hit a different speeds.
I mentioned all road users, good try though.Trinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0
