Paying energy bills

Options
Hello any advice please!

I have had a couple of letters from edf saying energy bill is overdue and they will be taking further action if they don't receive payment soon etc. I do not have the money and won't until I get paid next week. I don't need a payment plan and can pay it off in full once I get paid.

I don't want to get into anymore trouble with them, would it be possible to call them up and inform them that I am aware of the outstanding amount and will be paying it on X date?

Thanks!

You won't know until you ring them. I would recommend you do so straight away. If they know you are going to pay by a specific date they can make a note of that and then take action should you fail to pay.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

    Hi,

Would it be possible to phone them up ???

Of course it would be possible, just pick up the phone, and inform them when they can expect payment.

As long as you keep them informed, you can avoid problems, maybe switching payment methods would help you, direct debt for instance ?

If your paying any other way, then your paying too much to be honest.

Definitely give them a ring, explain the date you get paid and tell them that is the date you will be making payment. If you don't respond to mail they are sending then they will keep sending it.

Make alternative arrangements for future months by setting up a monthly DD - it saves hassle and makes it easier to budget for.
