How did you know that?
The run up to the year 2000 were great trading days, everyone made money.
You could stick a pin in the FTSE,buy the shares keep them a few days and sell them.
These days a fool and his money are soon parted.0 -

I'm on the blue Sunseeker just 200 metres from the entrance to Port Hercule and I keep seeing this guy on a Princess 23 pounding on his laptop shouting out "listen to me will you" so I guessed it was you:D
Do pop over for drinks"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

Sir John Harvey-Jones ex boss of ICI and later the "TroubleShooter" on BBC television, once described the stock market as a "gambling den".
I think he was right!
Just remember, the traders don`t give a damn about ANY company as long as they can make money.
They try to make money whether the price is going up or down.
They sell shares they don`t even own and "borrow" them from each other.
They try to drive the share price down (as in NR case) to make even more money.
From my limited knowledge I would avoid NR,B&B and A&L like the plague.

You were nearly right but I`m down in "Banus":cool:0 -
Thats what the grizzlys want investors to think, they keep attacking till investors lose all hope and sell, then they wait for the next strike, if your losing money, they are making it. If your an investor you buy and hold, forget about the price there on in.
Just look at nrk some bear spread a false rumour of bids at 100p and 200p, and it worked, nrk are now under 200, bear wins a glorious victory for convincing people to sell at lower then they bought, that loss is bear profit.0 -
Hi chaps,
could someone who's in the know (from reading this Yant1, alared, Optimist seem to have their heads screwed on) please PM me. I'm after some advice with regards actual numbers.
Cheers.

If it's just number crunching you need, I'm more than happy to help, but that's about all I can help out with!I am a Chartered Financial Planner

Well, I am more than happy to give advice, and here it is - do not invest in something you don't understand.
It seems to me that an awful lot of posters have got carried away with the idea that there is some sort of free lunch available with NRK. Well, there isn't. The whole situation is a mess IMO and should be avoided by newbie would-be investors. And experienced ones, for that matter.0 -
Sorry, my bad.
I just thought that "public" posting about particular share advice was considerred bad form? I didn't realise this applied to two individuals talking about shares privately via PM?
As for not knowing what I might be investing in, well, I do, and I am aware of all the pitfalls and potential losses and why they might happen. I'd just like to be able to bounce ideas off like minded people without the restriction of not being allowed to talk numbers.
If talking numbers isn't allowed via PM as well as on the forum, forget me asking, if it is ok, feel free to contact me, I'm just in two minds as to what to set my "buy no higher BPC" to and what kind of share mix might be the wisest choice???
Would be good if I could chat about this to someone? My friends aren't into shares and my financial advisor will just talk the cautious "I wouldn't like to say what I'd do" approach. Not saying I want someone to tell me what to do (I already know), just want to bounce ideas around thats all?
If not possible, I do appologise. I just thought it would be ok Via PM?0
