in Credit cards
Hi I need some help, I have just checked my creditexpert credit report and just saw two new credit application on there that I did not make.
I have recently gotten 2 credit card i. barclaycard & ii. capital one card to build up my credit report as I am planning buying a house in the next two years and had no previous credit card or loans accounts only my mobile phone card.
However, I have not applied for any addition credit since then (5 months ago), so I what to know can I have these removed? and how can I stop this from happening?
Help Need!!!

Accounts or searches? From who?
If searches, hard or soft?0 -
@zx81 they were hard searches from Tesco personal finance and Tsb bank plc.
On creditexpert I see the following message under credit applications:
You have made a new credit application. This has had a negative effect on your Experian Credit Score.
What should I do and how will this affect my credit report. I am planning on calling creditexpert tomorrow to notify them. These hard searched were done early this week.0 -
and you haven't applied for any current accounts with the named providers?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. Sorry to ask the obvious, it was the first thing that came to mind.
All other details on your report are accurate though? Middle names, DOB, previous addresses etc - I'm wondering whether your credit file profile has been merged with someone else's who has a similar name?
Have you also checked out Noddle and Clearscore to see if they hold the same information. More with Clearscore as they provide your CR from Equifax which is the same as my Credit Expert I believe.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. @Dobbibill, yes everything else on my credit report is accurate. However, on the new fraud credit application which was done my DOB and time at my current address are incorrect.
Equifax and clearscone have my correct DOB, name and address.
From what I can tell they seem to have run aneligibility:
Application -Identification – Generic
Type: Check
Check first than applied for a credit card as on the same day 3 soft searches were ran on my report and they applied for two of these account.0 -
This does look like an attempt at ID theft.
I would directly contact the two companies that have done those hard searches, tell them that you have not made any credit applications to them, and ask them to register CIFAS 2 markers in your name.
A CIFAS 2 marker (victim of identity fraud) will indicate to any other company searching you CRA records that they need to do extra checks to ensure the validity of any application they have received.Optimists see a glass half full

@OP Do you have a shared letterbox where you live? Somebody could intercept your mail, collecting and using the cards they've applied for.0

I had a hard search appear on my credit report and it was not me who applied for credit the search appeared on my Equifax report.
Because of this I took out a pre registration protection with CIFAS at a cost of £20. However I queried this with the credit reference agency and they advised the search was caused due to a computer error.
Because of this they gave me £50.00 compensation. My advice would be query it with the respective credit agency.0 -

If the DoB on the application is different from yours then I wonder why the CRA has posted the search against you?
Sorry - forgot. :rotfl:
