Credit Card data protection

in Credit cards
I recently activated a new credit card. Since then I have used it to make several purchases. I have now discovered that the bank has been debiting my ex wife's credit card with my purchases. We both have accounts at the same bank but have never had a joint account there. Her statement shows my purchases and, more importantly, by credit card number.
Fortunately we are on good terms and I will reimburse her but surely this is a breach of my customer data security? Do I have any redress with the bank?

Depends what you used the card on, Most things these days come up under a different name so visiting a massage parlour may appear as something completely different, Subscribing to !!!!!! channels may appear as something else also so the chance of embarrassing items appearing are slim unless the other person is savvy to them and digs further.
With that in mind I would still want an explanation from the bank over this and put right also, They should by rights deal with the credit card details mix up then offer a gog to you which will be anyone's guess to an amount.0 -
There has got to be more to the story.
At face value I'd be expecting them to resolve the problem and compensate you for the data protection issue. Anything over £300 sounds about right to me.0 -
The new credit card?? Wouldn't be a secondary one on her account by any chance?0

Sounds like jonesMUFCforever has resolved the misunderstanding.
In answer to your question if this is the correct answer then no you do not have any cause for redress.
Just out of curiosity when is/was your statement due and have you received it either online or via the post?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards.
