Some schools

Why do some secondary schools insist on having tie and blazer uniforms ?? Surely polo shirts and jumpers are good enough. Blazers are way over the top.

They make the pupils hot too!
My kids got so hot in summer in their BLACK blazers, with a tie right up to the neck, in a boiling hot class, whilst the teachers sat there in a thin white shirt or dress, (no tie!) in front of a fan! :mad:You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
I'm so glad my kids school don't have Blazers and ties. I think it's wrong0

But the schools in question must think it's right.I'm so glad my kids school don't have Blazers and ties. I think it's wrong
I would have suggested that you approach the school to ask why the uniform policy is blazers and ties but as it doesn't affect your own children, I wouldn't give it another thought if I were you.0 -
Ah, but I still remember taking my son for his first school blazer which had to be purchased from a certain outfitter in Lytham St Annes. He turned to me and with shining eyes said "Now I look like Dad"!“And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well.”

It's so they look smart. They're preparing them for when they go to work. A lot of places will require staff to dress smartly. What happens when your daughter goes for a job interview. She is not going to look very good turning up in her Primark uggs and a Lonsdale tracksuit.Come on you Irons0

I wore a blazer, it was not enforced in the summer though.
Different schools have different uniform policies and to me, a strong uniform policy suggests a stronger self discipline approach than say, a non uniform school. The opposite of what you know...is also true0 -
My son quite happily wore his blazer and tie for five years. He now wears a suit and tie at college. It is smart and prepares young people for the world of work. It also means that there is no competition over designer clothes or fashion. It can work out less expensive for parents to clothe their children for school, as they don't constantly 'need' to keep up with their peers.
OP, your children aren't affected, so why are you bothered? I personally like to see a school that has pupils that take pride in their appearance.0 -
Give it a f***ing rest!!0

I don't think that would happen. Anyway some businesses in the local area do mock interviews with all students twice a year I think0
