I'd push for it Van as most of the bathroom stuff is actually kitchen stuff ;) Looking at their ranges I worked out what they all were and bought kitchen units for my bathroom! eg. The cabinet for a back to wall toilet is a 600 wall unit with a drawer-line door pack. I think they have special cut out to feed the waste pipe through but I wanted a 500 which they don't do in their bathroom range so I bought a kitchen 500 wall unit with drawerline doors and our carpenter cut the door to feed the waste through. I even have a wine rack to store towels!

Nice thing about using kitchen units is that you can use any range, rather than the limited choice available in the 'bathroom' ranges.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
  • I'm new to this forum malarki so please excuse any school boy errors.............My Q is.......Does anybody have advice for the purchasing of Howden Kitchens during October Sale...........do you wait until end of October to squeeze them down to bare bones/sales targets or get in quick ??

I know after going in today that you have to take delivery during the 4 week sale and that there is no lead time as carcasses are already built - apparently if I bought a kitchen Friday it would be delivered Monday. i.e they need to get rid for the space !. Cheers

I don't know for sure but I have been told it is best to buy in the first week or so for the best bargains. I am buying mine on Monday - first day of the sale.

Tajk321 - If you dont mind me asking which kitchen are you ordering, how many units and roughly how much you have you been quoted?? - how good is the sale??:p

We had Howdens round this morning for measure up, they are also going to quote for Flooring and doors as all is in SALE!!

Having two kitchen styles quoted 'Howarth White' - top end and 'Burford White' - middle to low end, we will be providing all appliances

They said quote to arrive next week, drawings/spec to us and estimate to fitter..........if all well we will try and squeeze bit more out of them and get it ordered/delivered during sale month with a view to fitting in November :j

Howdens White gloss units are costing us:

    Unit List price 80% off

    500 wall £263 £53
    500 base £355 £72

These are from memory, as I don't have our full list to hand. You should be able to get 70% off the list price (which is pure fantasy prices...), maybe 80% in the sale.

Do they charge for coming out or add that to the unit price? We just made a list of what we wanted.

I have to say I have found Howdens really, really good to deal with. Nothing was too much trouble. I was surprised really how much they cared that everything was exactly what we wanted, considering they are a trade outlet. Better service than I have had in most places. No pressure selling either. It might depend on the branch, and the kitchen's not fitted yet so we will have to see how it turns out, but so far I am happy.
  • How can you get them to deal with you, I am looking for a kitchen and on therei rwebsite it states clearly on their home page:

"We are a trade only business"

what is going on people are talking away about getting a sale price when I can'nt buy a srew nail from them....

The list prices are pure fantasy......similar with Wickes whose list price for a 50/50 inbuilt fridge/freezer carcass??? - try £1200!! told the sales woman that that was ridiculous and that someone somewhere was making huge profits on glorified MDF and that I wouldnt pay that if the frdige freezer was inside as well!! 13 units with appliances from Wickes, not fitted...20k (outside sale couple of weeks back but with appliances on offer) ! haha

I am hopeful that Howdens quote will be very competitive in the sale but we will see, i'll post next week when I have quote off our fitter, (who said he wasnt interested in marking up their prices as wanted a flat rate for fiting the kitchen)

Correct they are TRADE only so you require an account, if you don't have an account and you still want Howdens products you need to find somebody with an account - you may want to ask in store if they can recommend a local fitter and ring them up. You may also unknowingly know a friend of a friend who has an account and is willing to put your order through their account - ask around. Either way its a bit of leg work but i'm told well worth it. ;)

They are very definitely trade only - we are getting ours through our builder. He is passing on all the discount, whereas some will add a mark-up to what it costs them from Howdens. Howdens can recommend fitters though, so you could ring them and ask for a few names who are local to you. The fitter should be able to get 70% off the list and will hopefully pass it all on and fit for a flat rate.
