Thanks, I will try that tomorrow.

I downloaded the ISO file to the USB and Rufus to a desktop, ensured all the boxes you mentioned were ticked, selected iso and found the iso file on the USB and clicked start as instructed, and it appears to have worked, though it was late and I didn't test it. Other blogs I double checked with appeared to suggest to do it this way.

That's wrong. So you've done it incorrectly. Read my instructions and forget about other blogs.

    Yep I did it wrong.

I've now done as you said
Downloads win 10 64 bit English international to desktop
    Download Rufus
    Plugged USB in
Open Rufus, selected drive with USB, clicked iso, found 4gb iso file, selected and pressed start

I will follow the rest tomorrow as I need to get my head round part 2.

I understand that I'm trying to get to bios, selecting usb, letting it run and doing a clean install onto my newly added ssd, or something

Click here for advice on booting via USB.

So try the F12 key on start up first to begin the install once the USB Flash drive has been plugged in.

    Here is a general guide.

You might or might not have to disable Secure Boot in order to install via USB. Leave it enabled firstly and only if it doesn't work should you disable it temporarily.

How to Enable or Disable Secure Boot

You are getting the hang of this now aren't you?

After the first time, it will be second nature.

Yes. Thank you for your help, time + patience, I have trouble absorbing stuff I'm unfamiliar with:D

I hope to try it later today:eek:
  • After 20 minutes with playing with settings and trying over , I appear to be moving.

I'm now at a screen asking which type of installation I want:

Upgrade: install windows and keeps files and settings
    Custom: install windows only advanced.

    I'm googling around and confused.

Given its an empty/new ssd, I'm going with custom?
  • I went with custom. It's installing windows. Should I have formatted ssd?
  • So I think it's done. Hurray?!

So can I remove USB now?

I only have recycling bin on the homepage?

Did I do the wrong thing?

I'll check the HDD caddy later.
  • I have no mouse cursor.

Everything is same when I press windows button

If you can only see the recycle bin, you appear to have installed W10 correctly.

The mouse is a separate driver issue, but should not be hard to fix.

Acer drivers available HERE. Choose your model in the list and download what's needed.

Note that Acer suggest you run windows update first to ensure that all drivers are picked up.

How do I navigate any webpage without cursor/mouse pad functionality?

Anyway just bought an £8 usb HP mouse from a local store, so will do it later..

So is my first course do a windows update? Where do I go for that please?

What drivers do I install? As I think all these auto updates etc were messing up my system.
