Hope it all works out for you and yes you do deserve the break and let your ex spend some time with the twins. Chill with your friend I bet you both could do with some girlie chats.
Take care,

mumoftwins wrote: »Yes the borough I live in is huge so could be up to 15 miles away - but so long as I have a roof over my head I don't mind!
The same happened to us when we found ourselves homeless. We turned up at the council office with no roof over our head that night. It took a nerve racking half a day for them to find us somewhere to spend the night.
It was about 15 miles from the childrens school. It cost us a huge amount in fuel making return journeys back and forth to the school each day. Please factor this into your budgetting. Also we ended up in a B&B for 8 weeks, and as I mentioned in a previous post, eating became a big expense (eating out is not cheap). In the end we got given a microwave and lived off ready meals...another thing to consider depending on your circumstances.
I'm thinking of you and hoping you find a way through this soon. Your strength and decorum through all this is truely admirable. I very much hope you find a permenant, settled *home* soon.:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0 -
I'm sure he wouldn't mind....:D
I hope he stocked up before he went on holiday...:rotfl:
So what's the next stage MoT? I must admit to being slightly befuddled by the outcome of Friday's meeting, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Have you heard from your old GP & your Chiropractor yet? Heard any more about the temporary flat? Where is that in relation to the twins' school?
Love Floss xx
Hi Floss,
He's a Costco fanatic so BIG boxes of washing powder etc:D
Chiropractor rang me on Monday to confirm he will do report and add extra as needed, old GP yet to ring meso will have to send him a reminder email in a minute. HLO aware that Chiro happy to complete report and that I'm waiting for old GP. Have heard no more about the flat HLO mentioned on Tuesday, but went to the road concerned and there are 4 or 5 small blocks of flats dotted amongst older Victorian houses quite close to town, and within about 10 -15 mins walk of twins school, so nearer than we are now!
Got Shelter appt at 10am xxChristians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -

A friend of mine had to move into temp accommodation last year because of a violent former partner. While she was in B & B the local authority Homeless Person Unit paid for her belongings to be transported and stored, if I remember rightly they even supplied boxes for her. This was all with a proper, fully insured, removal firm.
Her circumstances were different to yours but it would be worth asking the Homeless Person Unit if they supply a service like that.
I'd also try being a bit more pushy with the Crisis Loan Team, no one plans to have an crisis in 3 weeks time. In my area counter payments are made on the afternoon following application, so if you apply before midday the money can be collected at 3.30 on the same day. Have you maybe been given the wrong form to fill in, as this kind of timescale does sound more appropriate for a Community Resettlement Grant?0 -
hi MOT, just catching up with your posts but I always come to the last one first!
Good Luck for this morning hinney xx0 -
Been to meeting with Shelter who have all the details and now have to wait until council give a final negative decision before they can help anymore.
She said that I will have 21 days in which to inform council that I am going to appeal and they then have to arrange appeal within 56 days. However.................she said that whenever Shelter has represented someone at an appeal with my particular council they have NEVER won:eek:    . Apparently this council is in the only one in Herts that has an oral review (the others all deal with appeals by letter) and that there are 5 councillors who form the appeals commitee, the Head of Housing and my HLO and anyone else they want there then me and my representative. It is set out like a court room (HofH used to be a Policewoman).
So, I politely suggested that Shelter give me all the back up needed with how to write letters for submission, who to contact, how to query the 'prosecution' and how to defend myself and that I will deal with it as if I have done it all myself - as I get the feeling that my council do NOT like Shelter. I can take someone with me to speak on my behalf or just for support so guess who I'm asking when he comes back from rainy, cloudy Majorca.
The Shelter woman also thinks I would be able to put across my case well as I am not a 'run of the mill' type of housing applicant, and that the panel are very much upper middle class comfortably off ladies and gents who hopefully will see that I am someone who really does need help and has just fallen foul of extremely difficult times.
She also made the point that a lot of you on here have made and that is: That the house has always been up for sale and that eventually I would have had to leave anyway. So she asked me to get the LL to do a letter confirming that the house has been on the market for some time and that I would have been asked to leave. So that is another point in my defence.
This is sounding more and more like a criminal court case now!
She also said that we will be able to get the council to ask more relevant questions of my Dr with regard to my depression and how it is affecting me as she knows that the council form is not very specific in what is needed to be known. Shelter also have their own form which the Dr will be asked to complete and it is done for each client to suit what their own particular problems are.
Phew! Can't think of much else, but if I do will post when I remember xxChristians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -
 Great help eh:eek: With regard to you finding out and proving how long house has been up for Sale as LL is a complet$$$££££ I am trying not to swear:rolleyes: You could get confiramtion from the Estate Agents with whom the house has been marketed. You could also go to your neighbours and ask if they would be prepared to confirm the house how long the house has been for sale and to also add any problems they have had with this cretin:rolleyes: (sorry it slipped out:rolleyes: )
In some ways it is good that the panel are mostly made up of "Ladies who lunch" as you will come across very well to them. They will be looking for a steroetypical "single mum" who is in a fix all of there own making!! I am not making judgements on anyone please as my Mum used to say "dont judge a book by its cover and dont condem someone until or unless you have walked in there shoes"
Therefore Hun when they see you and hear your situation in person there prejudices will be knocked over immediately. Please Please Please push the fact that the house has always been for sale so the rent arrears which are no longer an issue are secondary. You were always going to be without a home it was only ever a question of when.:D
Good Luck MOT only 9 more sleeps till I_T comes home.
Sorry If I offended anyone with my sterotypical quote but I was trying to make a point of some peoples prejudices.:j I have a persecution complex. Everytime I pass a shoe shop they persecute me till I buy them:j0 -

I was trying not to offend too as everyone has their own problems. I'm going to send LL an email requesting confirmation of house sale by Monday am.Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0
