Another lurker here. OMG I have sat at this computer from about 2pm reading your thread. M y heart goes out to you and yours.

Just want to reiterate what others have said - has the eviction got anything to do with the rent arrears? Did he cite this as a reason? No! When you moved in you had no arrears, but he told you he was selling. His reason for evicting you is because he has sold the house, not because of the arrears.

You are unintentionally homeless because your LL has sold the home from under you! Or have I missed something?

Will be thinking of you tomorrow. Take care.

  • MOT I cant give you any advice as I dont know much about this area but I want to tell you how sorry I am about this appalling decision. The council has treated you terribly, they are being really judgemental.Hopefully tommorrow they will hear the human side of your plight. My thoughts are with you, I will be thinking of you and praying they change their mind.

    Hiya MOT

Have been reading this thread from the start, have not posted cos I'm a serial lurker!

I just cannot understand what part of I AM HOMELESS the council don't understand, ok so they have an issue with the housing benefit, but your landlord is selling the place. As soappie said, what would be the outcome if you weren't in arrears?

It makes my blood boil when I know of people who play the system and get away with it (and believe me I do) and when a genuine case like yours comes up.....you get no help. I have my own gripes with this ....but that should be another thead!

I have no advice but just want to let you know that people out here are thinking of you and hoping that the council can find you a new home, cos you really deserve somewhere to call your home. Wishig you all the best for tomorrow

  • I wet comb the nits too (horrid little blighters). My 3 used to have them once a term practically, but now 2 are at secondary school we have been free of them for over a year (touch wood).

Don't waste money on expensive lotions. The nits are immune to most of them anyway. All you need is a nit comb and a lot of combing!

I hope things get better for you soon MOT.

  • I've read all your advice, studied the letter from the Council and have prepared a long statement that offers a counter argument for each of the points they raise. I shall be making the point that even if MOT had paid her rent, even if she were to pay her rent arrears now, she would not be able to remain. The fact is, the LL is selling up and wants her out PDQ so that he can avoid capital gains tax. AND, if they dare to suggest I should put MOT and the Twins up I'll ask them what they know about my personal circumstances and the size of my home. Believe me, if my place were big enough I'd have them like a shot. But the other thing is that I don't have the finances to support MOT and the twins, as much as I'd like to. I hope I've covered everything in my preparation notes but I'm used to interview situations so I won't be phased and feel able to deal with any awkward questions. I think MOT may have reached breaking point and she won't be 'putting on a brave face' tomorrow as she has done at her previous visits to the HO; which in a way isn't a bad thing. They've got to see what this whole affair is doing to her. If they had only known what MOT was like 12 months ago and see how she has changed, they'd realise that she is not coping as they suggest, is not milking the system as they probably suspect and does indeed have medical issues. Ah well, I've burnt the midnight oil; its now nearly half past midnight and I'm off to bed. Keep all your fingers crossed tomorrow. Thanks everybody.
