If thats the case the reason you will be homeless is because he is selling the house, the rent arrears are neither here nor there. You need to get the council to focus on that if you can. And tell them the above information (if you havent already)You're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *0

Hi MOT
I've been reading this thread since it started. This correspondence from the council comes across as really judgemental and condescending. It makes you wonder how these decision makers would have acted if they were ever in your position! After reading about all you've gone through I'm angry and saddened that the council are taking this punitive approach.
In dealing with organisations such as local government, I find that it can be pretty random, - sometimes you can get a really helpful person , othertimes you get someone who couldn't care less.. Perhaps you've just been unlucky here and got some little jobsworth who says 'rules are rules', etc
I know this is disheartening, but don't give up! Still keeping fingers crossed, and I hope that things will turn out for you and the twins0 -

Need to clarify a point here - the LL owns this cottage and 3 others as well. The reason he is selling is that if he doesn't sell 3 of the 4 by the beginning of next year he will have to pay 40% capital gains tax. He has been a complete idiot re: his ideas of how to sell over the time I have been here (sorry if that sounds harsh but I have spent the last 20+ years in Estate Agency and New Homes), and in last few months started to panic about his CGT bill. Initially, when I told him of my problems he did nothing as he liked me and the fact that the house was always kept so nicely.[/quote]
Ok but do you know what he's told your LHO? Have you been in touch with Shelter? They can ask for a copy of your housing file so you'd be able to go over all the info they have.0 -
Cheeky mare!!!
Forgot to say - if she didn't hand deliver her letters, she would have more time in the office to work on the ifnormation supplied by applicants! I know it's not what it was, but that's why we have the Royal Mail!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Hi Gforce, no I don't know what he's told the HLO but when she was on my doorstep just now I pointed out the other properties here that he owns and confirmed that a)the one next door is sold b) the people across the courtyard are moving out in a couple of weeks because of various issues with LL and c) that he needs all sold by January 2008 otherwise he will have to pay 40 CGT!! and d) that he owns another big property further down the road.
In a way I'm glad she came here because she can now visualise me in my home environment (although she didn't come in).
Have rung Shelter, waiting for a call back from them to confirm an appointment.
Shelter rung, had discussion with an advisor and have an appointment for next Thursday at 10am.Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -

Did she discuss the content of the letter with you, and/or give you ANY advice as to your next options?I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

No rog, she just said that she will see me in the morning but I told her to expect 12 years of depression history to come out when I see her.Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0
