Dear MoT
I am a lurker and have been reading this thread for ages and come on everyday crossing my fingers that something has been sorted for you.
I don't understand why your Dr's medical letter is so important to the HLO - you are a Mum with 2 children who are going to be homeless...that should be good enough IMO. What reason did they give for wanting this letter?

I can sort of see the point if they're looking for mitigating reasons as to why MOT ended up with rent arrears and being evicted, because at first it seems they were saying she'd made herself intentionally homeless. But if it's just about vulnerability & homelessness then I agree with you, MOT is already vulnerable because she is being evicted and has dependant children.0 -
I think they are trying to get proof from the Dr that my depression has been severe enough to have been the reason why I haven't a) been in a position to get another job and b) that it has been the reason behind why I haven't been clear enough in my mind about how to deal with my finances.
Both of these reasons ARE why I am in this situation plus my children want me to be there for them before and after school and during the holidays - they spent the first few years of their lives (during my marriage to their father) being passed from one childminder to another and from one playscheme to another because I had to go out to work. Whilst they are lovely kids they are quite clingy and have been for a couple of years since the marriage breakdown, and I could not bear to see them upset as I left them at yet another playscheme or after school club. DS has had problems with bullying at these places and gets so upset it breaks my heart. So for the time being we will have to be very careful with money and plan well until I feel that they are confident to be left home alone - even then I would only work part time as I think it could cause too many problems if they were to be left with their 'peers' - goodness only knows what they could be led into if the parental care and control was missing for too long!Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -

To those who suggested I compose a petition for you all to sign, I just wanted to explain why I haven't responded to this. I actually believe this may be counter productive. Letters to the Council from MOT's Dr, the twins Headmaster and from me are valuable because they are from someone involved. It seems to me that a petition signed by a lot of people unconnected (other than through this thread) would have little effect other than to possibly alienate the HO. It might seem to her like we are 'ganging up' on them. They have their rules and criteria to work with and they will stick to these whatever. I am as frustrated as you all are by the way this is all taking so long. It seems to me that the HO must surely appreciate that MOT and the twins are unable to stay where they are, they can't continue to live in their present conditions, the delays and uncertainty are driving them further into depression than they already are, so why isn't someone taking the bull by the horns and doing something now? She has her home surrounding her in packing boxes, no oven in which to cook meals, a landlord that is pestering her, a baliff's warrant hanging over her head and letters from me, her MP, GP and the twins headmaster saying how this is affecting them. So, how much more priority evidence do they need? You are all very genuine, generous hearted people and I thank you for your wonderful messages of support and advice. A petition? I doubt it would make a jot of difference. I really hope MOT gets some good news before I go off on Saturday. I just can't bear the thought of her coping with this alone while I am away, but it is obvious now that she will have to. Pity you all live so far away.0

This does not remove the nits but these take about 3 days to hatch. So what you do is comb again every 3 days to catch the eggs when they have hatched into new lice. Keep doing this every 3 days until you get no more lice coming out and then you are sorted!
HTH!
This is great advice as its what my mum used on me for many years. It definately works.0 -

As hard as it is, she needs to keep on the path she's already on.

Morning all,
Been doing research into what the council will be looking for in this medical report and it doesn't look good.
For any of you that want to - google 'Pereira Test' - for me its disturbing reading as this is a 'test' case that the medical companies seem to go by.
In a nutshell unless I can be be proven to be suicidal or vulnerable if homeless ie: that I, myself, would be vulnerable, sectioned, attempt suicide or the like then I won't be classed as 'priorty need' - that saying then the children would be classed as a vulnerable and put into care.
Maybe I'm reading too much into this but the chances of me getting a positive decision to be housed by the council seem very, very slim.
So thats set the tone for my dayChristians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -
Dear mum-of-twins
Firstly I've been following your thread from the start and just wanna say WELL DONE for having coped so well - and having an ab-fab family..plus Mr I. T too
Regarding your comment re:Pereira Test - I wouldnt look too deeply into that to be quite frank. You dont know that they'll be using that as a guideline when they consider your position. Plus:to be quite frank, I dont see how they can class u as anything BUT being in need...besides - you've got so many different bodies involved (MP etc) that I think they'll be treading very carefully to make sure that the correct and right decision is made in your case..ie.the obvious one :j
Hang in there... I know you're probably preparing for the worst - cos I'm the same as you..but I dont think you've got anyth to worry about..
