I know, thats what I don't understand either:confused: My friend is off on hols for 2 weeks next week and she works for a large American paper and photocopying company as a buyer and they are making arrangements for her work to be covered, but even if she just has a couple of days off then the same applies - the customers of that company always have someone who can deal with their queries when she is away!

But there again we are talking about government run organisations here aren't we??!!

MoT I hope you are ok, I have only just seen this thread. You seem to be so strong and determined. Unfortunately the 'powers that be' rely on people being crushed by even lesser trauma than this. We are just numbers to them unless we take a stand and prove otherwise. You have a very great inner strength they cannot take from you.
Best wishes to you and your family xx

That's good, but I'd ring back to get their name & their direct line. That way, if they don't call you, you know who should have called you & can contact them direct yourself. If you don't want to ask the Head of Housing for the contact details, ask the person on reception/switchboard - just say you've got a letter to send them, but can't remember their name: you just know they're covering (insert the name of the person who's looking after your case) while they're off. :)

I got the name of the Senior HLO when I rang and ironically she is the person I spoke to pre-court hearing who told me to ring her immediately after it and she would make me an appointment to see her asap!

So after the hearing, I rang her 5 times and she never returned my calls:mad: so I don't hold out much hope of a phone call from her but believe me I am 'gunning' for her now and if she hasn't rung me by 3pm I will be ringing her!!!!!

Have just sent this email to Gordon Brown - Prime Minister and will send hard copy in post!

    Gordon Brown
    Prime Minister
    10 Downing Street
    London
    SW1 2AA

    23rd October 2007

    Dear Sir,

I am writing for your help with an URGENT Housing problem.

I am currently waiting for **** **** Council to give me a decision to my Homeless application which I made to them on 27th September 2007.

At present my 11 year old twins and I are living in a privately rented property for which I am no longer able to afford to live in and haven't been in a position to do so for many months. I have spoken with the Council on many occasions about my inability to afford to live here and also with the Landlord - neither of which has done anything to expediate the process of eviction until recently leaving me with a large debt now owing to the Landlord.

However, this is not the main issue here; it is the delay in which the Council have in dealing with this matter. I am already suffering great depression and anxiety (please see below letter to confirm the reasons why my children and I are in this situation) and the fact that the Council are seemingly reluctant in making a decision is worsening my depression greatly to the point where I just don't know how much more 'coping' I can deal with.

I wrote to your Housing Minister, Yvette Cooper, on 27th September 2007 asking for her help to which I have not even had the decency of a reply.

I really could do with your intervention in this matter as the situation is becoming unbearable for myself and my children.

I look forward to your reply and thank you for taking the time to read this.

    Yours faithfully,
