It was really sweet to hear from your DD, I hope that you are all sorted out soon. I don't know how they can't help you more quickly. It makes me so mad on your behalf.

I hope that your landlord is not being too uppity about you not leaving by the 1st. Has he sent in his bit of paper yet?

Actually MOT I think thats the perfect balance. To be honest I think that you deserve muchos kudos for keeping so calm and polite.

Your DD is a credit to you (and I'm sure DS is too ;)) and the three of you deserve nothing but the best. I hope that this horrible situation is sorted for you soon and you can all begin a new and exciting chapter (and dont you dare leave us at that point :p )

    Hi

I don't think I'd contact her and let her know she will be investigated in anyway, she should have treated you better and the shock will mean her superiors will see her for what she is.

    But thats just me.

I knew I'd got something else to do!

Have just phoned County Court and spoken to Enforcement Officer - the N244 form that I dropped in the letter box over the weekend has "only just this morning been collected from the post box due to the staff not being given the go-ahead to open the post box after the recent security alerts" therefore it has not been processed yet. I asked if LL had applied for Bailiffs warrant - yes he has but that hasn't been given a date yet so once the N244 form is actioned the Bailiffs will do nothing until the end of that period.

Well if there has been that sort of delay, at least it gives some more time, for the MP letter and exec letter to have some effect.

Ref going to the wedding what size are you? I have a couple of dresses that might be of use?

lol misspoppy I'd be very surprised if the homeless officer was investigated/reprimanded in any way. MPs/councillors/cab/shelter letters are par for the course in that job and don't forget councillors usually have a great deal of imput in determining housing policy, I find it quite ironic that the ppl involved in creating housing policy are the same people who then complain and ask for the rules to be bent once it's implemented. To be honest the officer just sounds as if she is doing her job.

    Floss,

Is this letter from my MP likely to go against me with the HLO? She and her dept may well be in for a reprimand???

No, we get them on a semi-regular basis. All it means is that soemone has to pull their finger out & work on your case for a few hours, chasing answers, rather than just waiting for people to get back to them.

It is a recognised channel for constituents to try if they have had no success through the usual channels. Basically, it's what the MP's are there for, to "serve" us, the voting public!

Until you've gone through the process you cannot believe just how awful and how much lack of accommodation there is.

'Emergency' housing doesn't mean it'll be provided in hours, it means months and the process is extremely lengthy and stressful.

Put's paid to the usual argument that anyone who gets pregnant gets a council house.....simply not true.

Having been there myself about 14 years ago, I do know how you feel MOT, but your doing all the right things.

Remember if you don't fight for yourself and your children, who else will?

ask for the rules to be bent once it's implemented.

If a Councillor or MP asked for rules to be "bent", there could & should be a public enquiry for misuse of Council policies - they are not asking for them to be bent to suit, just adhered to and followed in a more timely fashion, working to the guidelines of investiaging a person's situation, of that person being classed as homeless 28 days prior to eviction, and having the time to have a plan in place for eviction, rather than the jumping-to-conclusion, slow & IMHO slipshod way that this Homeless Department has treated MOT.

There should be an internal investigation by the department into the delays, at the very least the Chief Exec will probably want to know why he got an MP's letter asking for something his staff should be doing on a day-to-day basis.
