Phone and ask to speak to the manager of the Homeless department - tell them your case is now the subject of an "MP's enquiry" (wakes them up), and ask them what the hell you are supposed to do come eviction day?
Tell them if they don't sort this out pronto, you are contacting the local media.
They are supposed to treat these cases urgently - not sit on their hands and plod along - and I have worked in Housing, so I know what I'm talking about.
If that doesn't get you anywhere - speak to the Chief Execs. secretary and tell her unless this whole things moves along now, you will contact the local paper.
Make a nuisance of yourself (but always stay polite).
This is nuts.
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -

By the sound of it, any reprimand will be totally justified.
Do NOT worry about the consequences for the HLO and her department - they have failed you miserably, probably under the impression that you would just 'accept' what they initially tried to fob you off with and simply 'melt away'. Who knows how many other people, in similar circumstances to yours, have just have 'accepted' their first answer.
Now that outside agencies are getting involved, they will be the ones under scrutiny - not you - and they will, hopefully, be doing their level best in order to be 'seen to be treating your case fairly'.
With a bit of luck, your case will not only sort your own problems, but also, act as the 'kick up the backside' that this 'council department' appears to have needed, and result in better and fairer treatment for others who find themselves in similar circumstances to yours.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Personally i would email her and explain about the letter. Also I would let her know when it was you wrote to the MP (IF i remember it was BEFORE your proper homelessness interview with her). She is then at least forwarned, and it might may her chase the missing reply's she needs in order to be closer to making a decision.0 -
Thanks vandanfc thats what I thought too, and yes I did contact him before the application, after seeing her when she said I was making myself intentionally homeless.Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0

Hello C,
I just wanted to let you know that I have today received a letter from **** **** MP. Before I made the Homeless Application with you last Thursday but after our initial meeting on Tuesday, I contacted **** ***** as I really need some help to prove that I have not made myself intentionally homeless. **** is fully aware of my situation and has written to *BC Chief Executive - he may well have received his letter from **** today also.
I want you to know that I mean no harm to you by this but that I just want myself and the children settled so that we can start our lives again and that my finances can be sorted accordingly. We have had enough stress over the past years and want and need to settle down and enjoy our lives.
Kind regards,
Copy of email to HLO - too polite???? not strong enough????Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -
I think that is fine. It simply points out that you haven't set out to undermine her in any way, and made contact when things were looking especially bleak !
More than likely she will be used to it, as many people have to resort to contacting their MP to get things sorted out.
Let's hope that things start to move quickly now.
Things probably didn't seem that urgent to them, as you do still have a roof over your heads until the baillifs come to evict you. Have you heard anything about the postponement you applied for (N244 ?) ? or have I just missed reading that bit of the thread ?0
