What I hope is a balanced post.
You are upset by the landlord, he rented you a home that was up for sale, maintenance was weak and you feel ripped off. The landlord probably feels aggrieved by the publicity your case has caused him and he has been left owing money from your rent arrears.
The difference is that the landlord is an indivdual running a business, you were on your own at a vunerable time.
Look to the future not to the past. Your ex-landlord is now part of your past, forget it and move on. (This sentence is meant for your landlord as well as you; the connection is over, forget it and move on.)
So now the landlord has sent you an email that is well out of order, I-T has dealt with that (halo polishing again for I-T), the police are involved and will take action if appropriate.
Concentrate on the things you can change not the things you can't. You can't choose the landlord's wife's friends (and people are allowed friends), whatever friends people have, they must carry out their jobs in a professional manner and, in the case of public office, need to be seen to be doing so.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. If I was the landlord's wife, I would be telling her to get this case out of the public eye as it is not doing the LLs business any good!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I think that you are quite right to 'express your concerns' about this, mot. Whilst I agree, totally, with silvercar, I do think that your solicitor should be aware of the facts. He may decide, given the way that you have been treated so far, to 'ask' if any member of the Appeals Comittee is personally acqainted with either your landlord or you, in which case he 'may' be inclined to request that that person be replaced, but only if he genuinely feels that that person's opinions could be biased. I would, at least, see what he has to say.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

I agree Rog2, but on the other hand, anyone who reads the local paper or listens to local radio in MoT's area may have formed their own opinion, and realistically any of the other panellists for MoT's appeal could have done so already through the media, without being acquainted with the ex-LL's wife. One would hope that as a public-serving figure, the Chair has refused to listen to any comments related to any appeals panel. Then again, how do we know that ex-LL's wife is supporting him? She may be on MOT's side! Stranger things have happened!
What matters is that the facts are put to the panel in a way that will support the claim that the decision was made without information that was available at the time and / or withuout a recommended procedure being carried out to give such information. A mouthful I know, but the LL is a separate issue, which the police are now handling.
Have managed to break the embargo MoT, but will have to revert back under the restrictions again now!
Love to all, Floss xx0
