Mmmmm .............
Found this on the webpage of the HHG, says a lot really doesn't it?
"Dacorum Borough Councillors admit they have been 'treading water' when it comes to lowering their employee sickness rate.
At a meeting of the Cabinet held last Tuesday, various options were discussed to try to improve attendance.
***** ******, representing Leverstock Green said: "This issue has been going on and on and on.
"It's back up to where it was before. We have been treading water," she admitted.
***** *****, representing the Berkhamsted Castle ward, added: "We are all aware of the seriousness of our sickness situation.
"It affects all our staff. It affects the services we provide.
"It's right we take a robust approach given the cost of sickness."
Ideas included offering bonuses for low sickness rates and allowing employees with a good attendance record to have their birthdays off.
The idea of having a central telephone line for employees to call to confirm their absence was also discussed.
Pending discussions with trade unions, it was agreed that staff should call in daily to report their sickness, in order to receive full sickness pay.
Last year average sickness at the council was 11.3 days per person, an increase on the average of 10 days in 2005/6.
The council aimed to reduce this average to 10.2 days for 2007/8, but as it stands the absence rate will increase this year"Christians Against Poverty - www.capuk.org0 -
Well this just takes the biscuit.................... Bribing staff to cut down on there sick days. So for this we can read that they know that some staff who phone in sick are swinging the lead and getting paid for it. (I know that local goverment pay for odd sick days) Well it just beggars belief no wonder they cannot sort out your housing problems MOT.
Is this what we all pay our community charge for to contribute to staff having there sick days and then having birthdays off!!!!:D
