Absolutely.... I was quite sick when I realised how little I could have repaired our old one for ... and it was a repair even I the totally hapless ditzzy could have managed :)
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Nice to see you again, ASB! :)
  • Morning all,

Well we are two weeks into the school holidays already, it's going so quickly! We have been TTing daily, and I have sold quite a bit on eBay but that money has all been used to fund other (needed) items for the house.

I logged onto online banking this morning with the intention of making an OP, but instead am going to keep the money in our ISA for now. I haven't been feeling great lately, and the psychological need to see money in savings is greater than the need to OP at present.

Our mindful use of utilities is paying off as well - our energy and water bills have both dropped a reasonable amount which is excellent news.

Aiming for a NSD today; why are they so hard in the school hols?! X
  • I am rubbish at updating this! :o:o

It's been a busy few weeks back at work, and I've been dog tired each day hence not posting much. We are however very much on track to be in the 70s by year end which is :T:T

Tilly tidying each day also focuses the mind, and we have been keeping spends low which is important. All in all feeling quite positive about things, oh and it's the weekend :j

I often quietly plod too ASB and Tilly tidies definitely keep me focused. Hope you get some downtime soon and get your energy back.

  • I really am dreadful at updating this! In summary, we are on half term this week and I have managed to get my energy levels back to where they were. Work has been incredibly difficult over the past few weeks absorbing lots of time and energy and I am glad to have these few days to get organised and catch up with things.

I have made an OP of £500 this morning, bringing our October OP total to just under £1k :j we are still well on track to be in the 70s by Christmas, and it seems that we may finally be close to getting the money we have been waiting a while for.

I start a new role after half term, which is more money and hopefully slightly less stress. I am really looking forward to getting my teeth into something different and having some more spare funds.

I hope everyone is well, keep on keeping on peeps!:):)
  • We are plodding along here with our quest to be rid of the mortgage.

I started my new role at work which I much prefer to my previous role, better hours too. I am aiming for a no spend week this week, have had to pay out £££££s for a repair to the car which I could really have done without, so meals have been planned and belts will be tightened. Payday on Friday.

I need to have a chat with DH at some point about whether he is still considering changing his work van soon, this has a big impact on our spare funds but I do appreciate that he spends at least 25 hours a week in his van so he wants something comfy and that he can be proud of (he doesn't have 'his own' car, I have my banger but that's it, so the van is his 'car' too).

I was reading back on my old diary last night, when we started our first diary in February 2015 we owed £171k! This means we have paid off...

£83,500 in 4.5 years!!! :j:j:j:j we honestly couldn't believe it, and we haven't missed out on anything at all, I know we wouldn't have had that in the bank if we hadn't been OPing it, it would have been frittered on rubbish.

    Have wonderful weeks all xx
  • That's brilliant progress in less than 5 years! Well done.

It's amazing when you look back on your progress, that's an incredible amount! Glad to hear your new role is working out better for you, anything with less stress has to be a winner.
