So glad that invoice finally got finally got paid. Great mortgage goal, it's a brilliant feeling getting down to 5 figures. We have done it once but need to get back there again. Be interesting to see if we could also do that in 2017.

Love the goal (s). We will both get to ours .....roll on 2017
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

    Thanks ladies :)

£40 OP made and no spend day achieved. No reason to spend any money tomorrow either, and NYE is free as we are going to a house party at a friend's and staying over.

I've taken loads to the charity shop today. Following the Marie Kondo method of decluttering has really changed our lives for the better, and I now only allow things in if something is vacating the premises to make way for it. Sounds a bit wooooo, but it works for me and the house looks better for it as well x

Edited to add - we need to be OPing £50 a day. Better go OP another tenner!

  • Morning All

£50 OP made this morning. DH broke my NSD yesterday by buying some beer - but I did enjoy one so it's ok ;)

Today really should be a NSD - Need to pop out this morning, but want to be home for 12 for the kiddies lunch then a long dog walk. Dinner is beef burgers with HM sweet potato fries :D

I posted a letter to our mortgage provider yesterday to ask if our 10% OP cap is run in line with the calendar year, or if it runs from the start month of the mortgage. I have also asked how much our remaining allowance is (which will of course depend on the answer to my first question).

Have wonderful, frugal, days all xx

  • Such a lovely day.

An hour volunteering this morning, followed by a sunny dog walk and DH got home early from work :j

NSD achieved, and we are watching Toy Story with the wood burner roaring away, bliss. Might even pour myself a glass of wine

Aiming for a NSD tomorrow too, we have a freezer and fridge full so I can't see us needing anything. I do need to pop out in the morning but only to post a letter and drop yet more stuff at the charity shop - we are really streamlining our possessions this year - so no money needed.

    Have fabulous evenings all x

  • Just de-lurking to congratulate you on your MFW progress so far and wish you luck with your 2017 goals. I will be reading with interest x
2022 Target - Reduce new mortgage balance after house move - Part 1 (Ported) Starting balance £39,982.12 currently £37,242.19 Part 2 Starting Balance £101,997.88 currently £96,197.38 (as at 19/04/2022)
  • Great goal! I am completely confident that you will achieve it!! I think it's amazing how much you manage to OP. May I ask if you also have any savings / investments or are you purely focussed on the mortgage at this point?

My OH and I are working on some big renovations in our house this year so our main goal is to pay for that without using any credit! Mortgage OPs are therefore on hold but the remortgage deal we are working on will reduce our term by 7.5 years so that'll have to do for now!!
  • Thanks for popping in Facelessnumber and Needhelpsaving xx

NHS - We have a couple of bits and bobs of investments but nothing worthy of mention. We are only both 31 - I have a small occupational pension but DH runs his own limited company so that, for all intents and purposes, is his investment at the present time.

We do OP a lot - £50 done today - but sometimes it is nothing. Our unpaid invoice issue caused all sorts of problems, and there is always another tax bill lurking! We don't save too much in cash, as we are mighty mighty fortunate that my family are, as hubby puts it, "a bit posh" :rotfl: and would help us out if we were really up against it. But we like to do it on our own, and are lucky that touch wood we have managed it thus far.

We also spend a lot less than our counterparts. We eat in a lot, don't go mad buying "stuff" and generally live a low key life. Other than wine, I like wine, a lot :D

Have pleasant evenings all, back tomorrow with my full 2017 numbers plan xx
