I, too, initiated a switch from E.ON several weeks ago - very reluctantly. For my money there are just TWO elements to a deal/agreement/contract for the supply of energy - One is cost, and the other is customer service.

I have had exemplary Customer Service from E.ON ( 'Weslyn' and 'Maxwell' ) and, had I been able to access a reasonable 'follow-on' deal on the expiry of the last MSE 1-Year Fixed Dual Fuel ( as the E.ON online billing and MSE each urged ) I would certainly have kept my business with that supplier. But I couldn't make contact with their 'Tariff Team. After hours... days... of trying, I gave up and triggered the new MSE deal with BG. I wish now I hadn't...

It's been a nightmare. 'Yet you tell us it's complicated and a hassle!' say MSE elsewhere on this site.... Yes, I do. Contradictory emails, BG software unable to accept Meter Readings witjhout explanation, c/s reps ( plural ) failing to input those readings to their system after two mornings' phone-queuing, another c/s rep in Leeds simply unable to understand what he was being told or, indeed.what he was reading from his script ( education failure ), unable to confirm whether either, both or none of the 2 fuel switches had taken place...

This has been a nightmare - and it's continuing. I want my life back!
  • Call me an old cynic, but suddenly withdrawing all tariffs save for the standard basic rate and a 1-year fix smacks of panic? Most energy tariff reviews are carefully planned and calculated and changes to the 'offerings' made concurrently with retiring 'old' ones...

I'M so fed up with the big energy companies I'm giving them the boot.
I will not do business with any non British companies if I can avoid doing so. especially EON, not just French owned but French state owned.
I have just switched to Green Energy, as I have solar and don't use that much electricity I have gone for a zero standing charge option I will be saving £80 a year! compared to EON, I will be buying power that is generated by renewable means, and I will be supporting a British company.

I urge anyone considering swapping supplier to search "who owns the power companies" look at the British owned companies and look at who their partner suppliers are.

My switch to Green Energy happens on the 31st and they also give free shares in the company! Happy days.

BTW have spoken to them with question regarding partners and eco credentials and each time I've called I couldn't have asked for more informative and pleasant conversations.

    BUY BRITISH!

Just a quick note Richmc. We're part of the E.ON Group. This is an investor owned private company with a head office in Germany. We're not French or state owned.

Sorry to lose you bilbobaggins but glad we looked after you whilst with us. Sorry, too, you couldn't contact us. Not sure why that was. Our sales teams sit in a separate area and are available from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and between 8am and 4pm Saturdays.

Not much use to you now I know but, for anyone else struggling to change to another E.ON tariff to another, this can be done online provided the account has been registered with our website.
