I don't think you could get the new tariff if you moved into a house currently supplied by Eon. When you set up your account with opening readings on moving in, you would become an existing customer and couldn't switch onto the new tariff.

As such this workaround of changing the account holder won't work and is pointless.

That's right bumpercars99. If we already supply a property, a new occupier would automatically become a customer as soon as they start using energy. As such, the Saver Tariffs wouldn't be available.

    E-On Rep. Malc.

Like many others I e-mailed the CEO when E-On introduced new customers only, I received a very bland message in return advising me to contact them by telephone to see what tariff was available, this was despite having advised them that I was an online customer and had already looked on line and your best tariff was about £300 more expensive than my existing one.
All of the other big 6 companies can beat this for my region and in addition some of the newer suppliers can also offer a better deal. It appears to me that E-On has a " death wish".

Incidentally when the debacle of the new customers only came up you said you would give some feed back regarding the complaints raised and said you would let us know what management felt about the adverse comments.
Are you allowed to update us on this? or as I suspect they don't give a dam.

I don't think it is a death wish yet; albeit with enough publicity it might backfire.

Someone with a crystal ball in Eon predicts that they will make more profit from those ill-informed existing customers who they are ripping-off, than they will lose from savvy customers who will leave.

The problem is that none of the comparison networks will publicise this malpractice.

In the past WHICH could have been relied upon to raise the matter, but they now have a thriving comparison website themselves.

    Ofgem?? don't be silly!

HOPEFULLY the policy will have changed by Feb.next year when I'll be looking for my next tariff - I've got comfortable with EON and their (relatively) easy to use web interface so would rather stay - but not at a cost of £00s:)

As promised FOREVER21, all the comments from this and other threads have been sent to the relevant managers. Helena continued to do this in my absence.

This feedback has certainly been discussed at the top of the company. At the moment, there are no plans to withdraw these tariffs or to offer them to existing customers. We're always looking to develop our products and will continue to do this for both new and existing customers.

Can't tell you much more at the moment but will be happy to let you know if there are any changes in the future.

    Message for Malc.

I am currently on a fixed tariff until early March 2017 and there is a tie in fee of £30. If I were to move to another tariff without a fee l understand the original one would be waived. Say after about a month I decided to leave E.on for another company and then say after about a month switch back to E.on would I regarded as a new customer. Thanks

As I understand it, you CAN do this HOWEVER,the risk is that EON don't have any competitive tariffs by then, and if you are on the same, very good March 17 tariff as me, the extra costs this Winter could be pretty high:eek:

Hello MABLE and yes this can be done but I need to make you aware of a couple of possible pitfalls.

There are no exit fees when moving from one E.ON tariff to another. These only apply when changing supplier and then if outside the Price Protection window (open 49 calendar days before a fixed term deal ends until 20 working days after). None of the tariffs currently available through our website have exit fees but these might be more expensive than your present deal.

Switching tariff and then supplier would take away the exit fees but could mean you'll be paying more for your energy whilst the switch goes through. Usually takes about two and half weeks although could be longer before the account is fully active. Depends on the supplier.

Once the new supplier applies to takeover, the account will be locked down and no tariff changes can be made. This happens very early in the switch so you'll need to be on the new tariff and possible higher prices before starting the switch.

Also, our tariffs can be withdrawn at any time and might not be available if you then apply to switch back.

You can certainly go down this route and you'll be treated as a new customer but please be aware of the above possibilities.

    Hope this explains.
