Apple new features stupid idea

While it is undoubtedly motivated by additional revenues, the complaining about removal of the headphone jack harks back to the removal of the floppy disk drive/VHS players.
It's technology, it becomes obsolete overtime. A relatively large analogue connection needs to be done away with in the name of progress.
I haven't rushed out to buy an iPhone 7, but I bought some semi decent bluetooth headphones for my 5SE about 6 months ago for about £15, and it was one of the best things I did. I can listen to music with my phone in my bag/pocket without worrying about cables and it's not super obvious when I'm walking round listening to my phone.
While I appreciate it's an inconvenience (and mostly for the lightning connector thing), but honestly, it's not really a biggy.
For me I like being connected to my phone, I know it's not been nicked from my pocket - and if it's bluetooth the criminal can be a fair few feet away before you realise! I've had my phone stolen before - one of the very few times I wasn't listening to music! Also it's a good way to find my phone if it's in my bag or a full pocket - follow the cable! lol
The lightning adapter will easily break, just like the lightning cables and it's also old tech - I had a headphone adapter on my old Sony Ericcson phone 10 years ago. I will be happy with an older iphone for now. And maybe move to Android later - unless they bring it back of course and other phone manufacturers haven't done the same!0 -
Apple are certainly not leading the way, Google's Nexus phones went 'headphone socket free' back in 2014 when Google researched how people used their phones and found nearly 70% used bluetooth headsets.
The lightning connector was a good idea in that the cable can be plugged in either way up. This feature is now on some USB devices.
Urrrm no they didnt, the latest nexus phones both have headphone sockets.0 -
Android is a useless os0

Ive had the same lightening charger lead for my iPhone 6 since it was launched & I've never had any issues with it or had to replace it, indeed I'm still using it on my new 7. I suspect those who have don't look after their charger leads just pull the lead, rather than the physical bit that goes into the phone, to unplug it.Dwy galon, un dyhead,

Me too
The people that break them mainly use the phone whilst it is charging causing the cable to bend and eventually break.0 -

The floppy drive was replaced with something better (CD-ROMs which were faster and had more capacity). The VHS player was replaced with something better (DVD players, ditto). The headphone jack has been replaced by something worse (wireless headphones which are more expensive and less reliable).
But that's Apple for you. More expensive, less effective and less reliable. For those that want to advertise that they have more money than sense.0 -
The difference between an inexpensive smart phone and an Apple IPhone is massive....you pay more for quality.0

I can't tell whether your joking or your one of those people completely drawn in by the Apple culture and can't compare different brands in an unbiased way!.0 -
I have tried other branded phones and none come close to the quality of Apple.0

So what phones have you been comparing to your Iphone?
So a whole OS with the largest market share is 'useless'.
Nothing like a balanced view, nothing like it indeed.0
