lets be honest - all the phone producers will start copying them on the 3.5mm jack - I'm sure I read Samsung are already considering it.
Problem now will be they all have their own connections0 -
Its about dumping the wire/cable and having a truly wireless future. Apple are just leading the way into a bright new way of life.0

Apple are definitely not leading the way in regards to a "wireless future". There new phone is missing wireless charging which has been standard on the last 2 generations of flagship Samsung Phones, plus many other android devices.
If Apple really wanted to be bold and push the boundaries they would have gotten rid of the charging port aswell and made the phone completely wireless.0 -

But no one does it as well as Apple does it.0 -

Apple are certainly not leading the way, Google's Nexus phones went 'headphone socket free' back in 2014 when Google researched how people used their phones and found nearly 70% used bluetooth headsets.
The lightning connector was a good idea in that the cable can be plugged in either way up. This feature is now on some USB devices.Never Knowingly Understood.

Apple thinking of ways to generate more money, who'd have thought it...

While it is undoubtedly motivated by additional revenues, the complaining about removal of the headphone jack harks back to the removal of the floppy disk drive/VHS players.
It's technology, it becomes obsolete overtime. A relatively large analogue connection needs to be done away with in the name of progress.
I haven't rushed out to buy an iPhone 7, but I bought some semi decent bluetooth headphones for my 5SE about 6 months ago for about £15, and it was one of the best things I did. I can listen to music with my phone in my bag/pocket without worrying about cables and it's not super obvious when I'm walking round listening to my phone.
While I appreciate it's an inconvenience (and mostly for the lightning connector thing), but honestly, it's not really a biggy.0 -
I wonder if I'm the only one who wondered why it has a lightning conductor. Doh.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
