The only thing that's confusing me about all this is it wasn't a lease vehicle not my own, I was planning to say

"Hi, I recently visited your leisure park and upon returning to the vehicle found a parking charge notice issued by UKPC, I think this is outrageous as there was not any parking spaces so the vehicle was left on a bit of curb where there was no markings and was not obstructing anything/anyone from entering, leaving or passing

I am outraged at the decision for a ticket to be issued in a built up area with low visibility and no spaces.
I look forward to hearing from you soon,
    Kind regards
    Jack.".

'curb' is USA spelling. In the UK it's 'kerb'. To be fair I just asked one of my teenage sons and he thought it was 'curb' as well - DOH!

Just change 'I' to 'we' (even if you were alone) and you have hidden who was driving. It is also far too 'nice'!

You also need to make it clear it is a complaint (at the start) and end it with what you want them to do about it. In any complaint always point the way forward to what you want the recipient to do about it and by when.

  • Don't know if this is important or not but.. the ticket actually says "not parked in a bay properly" when in fact I wasnt actually parked in a bay at all?
  • Sorry about spelling mistakes, not to sound silly but the new iPhone update does actually correct a lot of my stuff to anything other than what I type! I took my girlfriend after she finished work due to her moaning about being hungry and was getting reminded of this constantly whilst trying to park (frustrating) should I add to the end that "issuing a ticket for "not being parked in a bay correctly" when not being parked in a bay to begin with is outrageous and would like the parking charge to be revoked immediately.
    Yours sincerely

I think you are rushing this, slow down as that complaint is weak and makes it sound like you parked without much thought (badly) and the landowner won't be on your side.

The appeal to send to the parking firm (PPC) is in the NEWBIES FAQS thread and stronger examples of complaints are in a link there too, called 'successful complaints about PPCs'. Start reading good examples and copy from them.

Absolute waste of time, you are not getting this at all.

These parking scammers have found a way of making easy money, they in the main offer a free service, though some even pay the land owner a fee, to pretend to manage the parking.

The reality is they dream up rules and traps to catch out victims, then design paperwork and documents that look offficial, and copy real tickets to con the public into paying their exhorbitant charges.

If they even read your appeal they will just ignore it and put it into their data bank as sucker to chase for dosh!

Don't try to add to the advice given, you will be wasting your time and may even trip your self up and leave the door open to the dirty tactics they are so good at.

As I already mentioned, you need to contact the lease/hire company urgently to tell them you are dealing with this and they must not pay on your behalf.

Then you need to appeal as keeper (on the day in question) to UKPC using the BPA template in blue you will find in the NEWBIES thread.

Don't do this from an iPhone, use a proper computer as you may miss important information or write the wrong thing if you miss auto-mistake. (Be honest, it's not auto-correct now is it, otherwise it wouldn't make spelling mastikes. :D.)

  • This message was a complaint to land owner, I have read a few threads where complaining to the land owner first has resulted in the ticket being cancelled. (Especially when there's no rule against what's actually been done!!)
  • Fruitcake, i just tried to contact landowners via phone call (as like I said I've read threads where this has been successful) and luckily for me there offices aren't open on weekends, great news! So I'm about to set up my laptop ready to send a complaint and also call the lease company that I will be dealing with this as adviced.

Tell the lease company in writing. Do it no matter what else you do.

The PCN isn't cancelled until the parking company says it is, so don't wait for a landowner cancellation that may or may not come.
