I would contact Amazon to sort the situation out.
I've contacted them already and received the following answer:

When you sign up for DVD rentals, we contact your credit card's
issuing bank to confirm that your credit card is a valid, and has
not been reported as lost or stolen. This is communicated via a 1.00
    GBP authorization.

Further to your e-mail, I have requested a refund to your payment
card in the amount of 1.00 GBP.

I've paid so many times in Amazon and now this:confused:
  • Decided to go to Amazon via the Nectar site and Nectar are offering triple points at the moment, bargain!:j
  • £10 saved off £90 worth of textbooks. :)

Oooh, I wish I read your post before I placed my order

    However, I've got £10 off of £26 purchase = £16. :j
  • I got £10 no problem. Put all sorts of things and vlues in basket to see if it would trigger the £15 offer but no luck. Still, £10 is nice!
  • More hassle I know but it also works for the credit card application.
    1. Place order from Amazon and get £15 for applying for their credit card.
    2. Order placed and despatched
    3. Credit card agreement takes about 1-2 weeks to arrive by post. Don't sign it, application cancelled.
  • But doesn't it say that if you don't use the credit card then the £15 will be taken back?

What credit card? You won't even get it if you don't sign the agreement.
