Be careful with sending rental dvds back to amazon - I closed my account recently and got an email saying:
"Your Amazon.co.uk DVD Rental by Post account will be closed on your next payment date: 4 Sep 2007. Until then, you can continue to enjoy receiving and watching DVDs. To avoid additional charges after your next payment date, please return any outstanding DVDs no later than 19 Sep 2007."
To me I understood this to mean as long as I sent back my dvd by today I would not be charged. However I got this email timed at 2:15am this morning:
Subject: We are charging you for unreturned DVDsSent 02:15am on 19th September:
We did not receive the following DVD's back from you:
- Blood Diamond
In accordance with the DVD Rental by Post terms and conditions we will charge a replacement fee of 15 GBP to your credit/debit card for each DVD we didn't receive back from you.
And then another email timed at 8:00am this morning (6 hours after the one above):
"We've received Blood Diamond "
So the dvd was posted on Monday, they received it today (19th) but are still charging me £15!I also only got one dvd in August because the postal strike meant there was a 10 day turnaround between dvds.
So moral of the story is read the terms and conditions carefully and return any dvds several days before they are due to avoid being charged £15.
Not as bad as Lovefilm though who charged me £15 a month for 4 months because they did not receive a dvd after I cancelled. It had been lost in the post and as Lovefilm did not reply to emails I eventually bought a brand new version of the missing dvd and sent it to them by recorded mail - so in total I ended up over £70 out of pocket just because 1 dvd was lost in the post."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

Just to remind people that the £15 voucher is deducted before VAT is added so you actually save slightly more!
I ordered Babyliss hair straighteners (reduced from £59.99 to £34.99) and a book (£4.49) and my total order came to just £22 :j“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Can I still sign up to the DVD rental if I have signed up to others before (i.e. 'Lovefilm')?
EDIT: Just tried adding a DVD boxset to my basket, and it gave me the silly 'Credit Card' offer... No good for me as I don't want a card/have crap credit historyI Hate Jobsworths!!!0 -
I've been charged twice for DVD rental subscription: for £1 and for £3.99. Somebody knows why? I chose the cheapest option for £3.99.0

Again, ditto on the tenner! I ordered Sex and the City series 1 on DVD to complete the collection
Im happy - it cost me 98p! For some reason, ive got an error message about the dvd rental though, its saying that the payment could not be processed, but my order went through ok. Im hoping this means I got the tenner and didnt have to have the DVD trial either!
