This may be useful to some folks.... here's how I got the initial £3.99 refunded.

Remember this is only possible if you have not rented any DVDs, and do not have any "dispatching soon" or dispatching dd/mm/yy). i.e. If you think you might want a refund of month #1 do NOT add any DVDs to your queue. IIRC you have 7 days in which to seek this refund.

Cancelling the subscription online is the first part.


For me at least that second part (getting the £3.99 refund) meant

2: Clicking this button (on the right hand side)

Contact Us

Get Express customer service or contact us by e-mail or phone.

3: Logging in

4: (Possibly) stating the query is not related to a recent order

5: Choosing the "Issue" : "Request refund after cancelling service"

6: I wrote "I have cancelled my DVD rental subscription in accordance with my statutory rights and request a refund of my first month's subscription fee."

I received a reply 2 days later :

<snip>On checking your account, I can confirm that you have closed your
DVD Rental Membership.

Therefore, I have requested a refund to your payment card in the
amount of your subscription fee of 3.99 GBP.<snip>

Hmmmm I have the banner, but its only for £10 - strange! Maybe it's based upon what you are ordering.

Yes it does depend what you have in your basket. When I added products from other sellers on amazon, I see a £10 voucher with a DVD rental but when I enter products from amazon.co.uk, I get the £15 from Amazon Mastercard signup

To be on the safe side, I would wait until it's been dispatched and then cancel/request refund as above.

However, my order was dispatched today, I logged in to cancel and noticed i had a 6 week free trial on the DVD rental so thought I may as well use that and then cancel at the end of Oct! No money has been taken off my card yet...:T
