Sky+ HD can only record 2 programmes as long as you aren't watching anything else.
Yes, it can only tune in to 2 channels at a time. But you can still watch things you've already recorded, or on-demand stuff.

...or watch a live channel via Freeview and an aerial.

The latest Humax box records four programmes , with certain limitations, but having looked at one, yesterday, I don't like the brown mock leather effect on both the white and black boxes. They do sell an all black 2TB version direct, but at full price , so no chain store discounts.

I have tried a few times for 3 boxes but keep
Getting quoted £297! I have mentioned that new customers get 3 boxes for £159 plus a tv or laptop but they keep saying I had a offer when I signed up for Sky! I can't remember as it was over 10 years ago! I defiently didn't have a new tv though! I will just wait until they lower the price.

Just cancel your multiscreen. It takes 31 days notice.

Call them after it goes off and you will have saved £108 on your setup costs if you still want 3 rooms.

Crazy pricing but they still want people with existing extra rooms to pay more than new customers upgrading to their first extra room.

Although people with 3 rooms currently will save £12 per month with Sky Q.
  • Hi all,

Has anyone had much luck trying to get rid of these hidden extra charges when going from Sky+HD to Sky Q?

Seems rather unfair that new customers get the £99 Additional TV Fee waived, when the rest of us (I've been with Sky over 17 years) only get it knocked down to £40.

If you managed it, how did you go about it? For now I've just got 1/2 price Sky Cinema (again) and cancelled Sky Go Extra as I don't use it much.

    Thanks!
  • I spoke to Sky today to try to change our deal (we have Sky HD). I tried to get upgraded to SkyQ but would have had to pay the £99 fee. However, what they did say is that the costs of the SkyQ box is changing all the time so if a good deal on the installation price comes up in future we can switch.

I agree that it's pretty bad that new customers get the installation fee waived and and free TV when current customers get nothing.

It could be argued that you had free cabling (now not sufficient for Q) when you had your HD+ installation.
  • I spent an hour on the 'phone discussing packages and options. I am rather locked in by the various demands of other family users. Essentially, listening to the same programme in different rooms is different from watching different programmes in different rooms. Since we were out of contract we got a small temporary reduction but we got the 2 TB Sky Q box plus a Mini Box for £100 replacing older boxes. This places us back into contract but at least get some very old hardware replaced.
I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".

You do realise you could have replaced all your old equipment for less than that by purchasing from E-Bay etc?
Now you are tied into a new minimum term...

Try going to one of the sky stalls they have in shopping centres, I was quoted £60 upfront for 2tb box and additional box and the £12 Q charge.

There are many tales of these stallholders misleading people or making an offer that Sky will not or cannot honour. Some are just subcontractors who will say anything to get your signature.
