Getting it on 2 November - at an increased cost of just £2 per month.
We currently have the HD variety pack for £44 per month, plus £10 per month Sky insurance.
Our new Sky Q pack will be £56 per month - but as the Sky Q equipment is on loan, not bought, it seems that Sky insurance is only needed to cover accidental damage. We don't have toddlers running round with jam butties and glasses of orange pop, so we will bin the insurance hence the £2 per month increase.
We've gone for Sky Q silver. Will let you know how we get on,0 -
You ... actually..had...Sky...insurance??????
That was (and still is) a total waste of money. Sky were continually waiving the cost of any repairs to anyone who otherwise threatened to cancel and only charged £65 for a call out anyhow. You were therefore paying £120 a year for nothing.
Your Sky Q "deal" would hardly be money-saving for those without insurance and Sky have STILL managed to wrangle an extra £2 a month from you.
What was the attraction to upgrade, may I ask?0 -

Multi room and the capability to record more than one programme at a time.0 -

I assume you mean you wanted to record multiple programmes at once?
Pity you didn't earlier decide on Multi-Room with Sky+HD instead of the uselessly expensive insurance. You could have had the ability to record multiple channels over two boxes and it would have only cost you around the same...0 -
Sky+ HD can only record 2 programmes as long as you aren't watching anything else. We didn't want Sky multi room because I can't be doing with wires all over the place - hence the attraction of Sky Q wireless. Yes, in hindsight, Sky insurance may not have been a good deal, although we called them out 3 times - twice for the box and once when 2 woodpigeons knocked our dish off kilter by - er - using it for knocking!
I know that £56 may be a lot for some people, but we can easily afford it and if it does what we want then what's the problem?0 -
No problem at all. If you are happy with the deal and there is extra functionality over what you had originally then that's a winner for you.
I think you were most unfortunate to have to call out Sky three times, but over what time period?...0 -
2 years. Yes, in hindsight, it would have been cheaper to have just paid the call out fees - but isn't that the case with all insurance policies?0

Is there ever any budging on the upfront cost?
I've rang up twice, i'm on a 50% off deal for the year, with multiroom. They said it'd be no additional cost since Sky Q silver at 12 a month would just replace multiroom costs.
But both times they've told me there's no movement on the upfront cost of the boxes, the main 2tb and the second box at 99 a month, 198 in total. They said there's never any offers that apply to the upfront cost and can't do a deal, that's just a fixed price.
Then i've seen others saying they've had it at 60 quid for both, 30 quid each, free for the first box etc...should I wait for a deal?0 -
I have tried a few times for 3 boxes but keep
Getting quoted £297! I have mentioned that new customers get 3 boxes for £159 plus a tv or laptop but they keep saying I had a offer when I signed up for Sky! I can't remember as it was over 10 years ago! I defiently didn't have a new tv though! I will just wait until they lower the price.0
