  • Thanks Hairy and Cumbria. I remember Wax Lyrical quite well some years ago when the fashion for candles really got going. They seemed to have quite a few branches although I haven’t seen them stocked in my neck of the woods lately.

I’m just on the train home now after having my hair appointment- nicely budgeted for though in YNAB so no worries there!

Ive winged £80.09 over to Ad Hoc Savings as it’s the end of Scrimpy Week 3 for the month and I had this left over.

Jacket potato with cheese and baked beans with salad I think when I get in as it’s nice and quick. Will catch up with diaries then as reading and writing on this phone is driving me up the wall!😀

My kind of dinner SSG , late home from work tonight finishing a project ! I had a bowl of porridge with honey in. Couldn't be bothered with anything else.

Your scrumpy weeks sound very good.

In all honesty it should be going into the pension, but the Ad Hoc Savings have turned into Flat Renovation/Repairs Savings. I'll have to keep sticking any spare cash here until I know from the freeholder what the bill is going to be. Can kick myself for not setting up a YNAB category for this months ago. :(

Yes just finished it Cumbria! I've often had cereals as well as a late meal!:)

  • Very sensible to save as much as possible for the flat repair bill. Baked potato with cheese and baked beans is one of my favourite meals.

  • Thanks Hairy!

Today I overslept! I think I pushed the stop button rather the snooze button in my phone alarm and ended up waking up at the same time I usually leave in the morning! Big mad rush then entailed!

Then later on in the afternoon a colleague who travels on my line emailed me to say a tree had fallen on the overhead lines and there was absolute chaos on the trains! I ended up working till half six to give things a chance to settle - things had started to move when I got to the station but at a snail's pace going through the fallen tree area so I was quite late getting home. I felt really tired so spent £4 on a taxi from the station and when I got in I had the other potato that was left in the fridge - baked spud, cheese and beans for the second night running but I couldn't be bothered to cook anything else!

Bright spot was that £29.06 dropped into my bank account today which was the cash left in my electric account that is closing as I've swapped provider. So into the savings fund it goes!:)

Same here with a tree but on the main route home, luckily they kept one lane open but it was slow progress . Here's hoping you have a better journey tomorrow.

  • What's with all the trees hurling themselves around!:D

They should have sorted everything out hopefully tomorrow Cumbria or I'll be late for work two days running!

  • Had an early one last night - I was in bed at 8.30pm! Thought I could hear DSIs speaking after I drifted off - this morning I found she'd left me a message on the answerphone! I didn't hear the phone ring at all!

Anyway today I bought the lunchtime coffees for me and my friend and donated £3 to the RAF charity collection at the station today -I always like to make a contribution as my mum was a WAAF during the war.

Also downloaded the latest Steven Saylor book on my kindle. I like his novels about Ancient Rome and his Roman private detective Gordianus the Finder. They're very well written and have a great historical content as well. But I'm going to read the previous novels in chronological order first and leave the new book till the end as a treat. By the time I read them all I should just be in time to download CJ Sansom's latest Shardlake novel.........:)

Nothing else purchased except milk tonight. Tomorrow I want to make a start in getting out the autumn/winter clothes and sorting out the summer staff before I put these away. My friend is off abroad next week to attend her granddaughter's wedding and asked me if I had any kaftan type, beach cover ups she could borrow so I'll dig around for these.

I get paid on Tuesday so will start to look at the budget for next month over the weekend as well.

    Have a good evening all!
