My summer clothes went away last weekend SSG also had a bit of a cull on them.

The book you have downloaded sounds interesting, I am always trying to broaden my horizons on reading so may have a look at this author.

    Have a good weekend .

  • Hello, have dropped by to have a look at your diary too - wow, well done on clearing the original chunk of debt!! I am making my brain hurt currently by considering the way forward in terms of pension/retirement savings (it seems such a bizarre thing to be really seriously looking ahead to now...).
I shall subscribe and look forward to keeping up!

    Hi SSG,

I put away the holiday clothes this week but I need to go through the wardrobe and drag out the jumpers. I have found 2 sets of gloves and the winter coat has been cleaned. Can you tell I've given up on the Indian Summer coming :)

Thanks guys. Sorted out the summer clothes - wasn't much to discard - two tops to go to charity shop - I don't think the dress agency will take them. Sorted out some beach coverups to see if my friend wants to borrow any. Shoes/boots I will sort out this weekend.

Cumbria - the first book you should try is called "Roman Blood" - it is excellent - actually based on a true story. The author has begun to write some novels about the character when he was younger based in Ancient Egypt but these are more adventure based. Try "Roman Blood" first!

Hi Seaside Girl (it's like talking to myself:rotfl:) - good of you to drop by. The retirement issue seems to zoom up before you know it! I've been scurrying about trying to put as much away as I can before my retirement in a couple of years time. Wish I'd thought about it seriously before though.

  • Pay day tomorrow,:j. Have had a pretty low key week so managed to wing some more cash over to the flat renovation savings - it's now up to £1361. Also updated the months till retirement - now only 31 months!:j

The weekend was quiet - no spends apart fron bread and yoghurt. And had a NSD today so ended the month off well! Will do full report for coming month tomorrow when I get paid.

Also spoke to my kitchen fitter today re my new kitchen. He's going to pop in one night this week so we can begin to get the ball rolling here.

First sign of madness you know... :rotfl:
I’ve seen several people in pension situations where they’ve ended up worse off than if they hadn’t got a private pension at all. And others sadly die early and never see the benefit. So I’m not entirely convinced they are the only option for an additional retirement income to the state pension..

Exciting news re the kitchen, it makes such a difference :)

  • Hi Seaside Girl - yes people take different paths for their retirement plans. My DSis and her other half are going the property route for the bulk of theirs - they want to build up a property portfolio. I'm lucky in that I have a fairly good Defined Benefits pension scheme from a previous employer and because I've left it so long to sort out my plans and I only have very few years left working till I retire, I've been throwing everything into my current workplace pension because of the tax break and the fact that my firm also contribute. I want to retire in under three years so don't really have any other viable options.

The kitchen renovation is long overdue. I've mixed feelings between excitement and dread of all the mess!:D

Everything sounding good SSG. Maybe start getting rid of unwanted stuff in your kitchen if you have anything.

Looking forward to my trip south with my mum. We will be at Hammersmith hospital.
