Like Sun_Addict I miss your posts.
Sorry you've had a difficult few weeks.

A decent office chair does cost, but not having one ruins your back so it is worth it. I hope you win the WFH equipment battle at work. Your employer does sound decent however as I WFH 70% of my work and my large, wealthy charity offered very little to support that.

I also struggle to sleep when the weather is like this. I bought a great fan but it sounds like a plane taking off so it won't work for sleeping or maybe I'll get used to it :)

You always give me something to explore. I have an insurance frog ignored for years. Time to eat it I think! Also getting a paper on subscription might be nice too? Does it always arrive on time?

Sorry about Scotland and have a positive day.

Good to hear from you again SSG. I’ve kind of fallen off the cleaning wagon as well. But as you say best to jump back in.

Good to hear you are more comfortable work wise and fingers crossed you get reimbursed.

Thanks everyone - I'm on my coffee break so quick update.
@Sun_Addict - we had the same type of survey a couple of weeks ago - apparently the results confirmed that over 80% of staff are in favour of some sort of permanent WFH. So here it comes!
@beanielou - thanks - bit of a rollercoaster couple of weeks.
@in_need_of_direction - my boss did mention this so it's something to look into.
@doingitanyway and @Mumoffourkids - our parent company is hardly 'hard up' and has just injected a v. large sum into our own company. What annoys me too is that it was reported we've saved shedloads on paper alone since the lockdown. Also we get quite a lot of details emailed too on how to look after ourselves mentally and physically during this lockdown and we have mental first aiders ready to discuss our problems - these are members of staff and I wouldn't open up to them anyway if I did have a problem!  In the scheme of things a couple of hundred pounds extra per staff member wouldn't hurt and would make me a lot happier mentally and prove that we're valued as staff!  Rant over - should count my blessings and be thankful I have a job!

The thanks button has now reappeared - how odd!

@Doris17 - that's really sweet of you to post that you find me inspirational - I never think of myself like that as I've fallen off the wagon too many times!😁. I'll have a look to see if you have a diary.

    @moving_forward - yes I don't think they've thought of that one yet!

Update on the expenses debacle - an email was sent to all staff this afternoon confirming that the limit has been raised. Maybe is was the photo of my ironing board desk and Lloyd loom chair that done it!🤣.  Though I think a few people queried it when the WFH email survey went round recently. I still don't think it's enough because the limit covers everything one might order to WFH so lumping it all together that I should claim for, I'm now up to £147 out of pocket.   My team head has told me not to claim yet though as he hasn't finished with the matter!

On a funny note - the email said that if you have an ergonomic chair in the office you could have it delivered to your house. My boss did this a few weeks ago and when the chair turned up it was somebody else's!  He didn't query it though as it was better than his one!🤣. I said to him today if the owner decides to have the chair delivered, he's going to have a problem!🤣

As I've written, I was due to fly up to Scotland tomorrow and had booked time off from work. I've decided to still take tomorrow as holiday so I can have a long weekend away from the grind.  It'll will be very exciting as I'm off to - wait for it and drum roll - Waitrose!!!!!  I'm also hoping to go for some socially distanced walks with my friend over the weekend - though will stay away from the seafront to avoid all the nutcases that will hit the beach if the weather's a scorcher!

Have a good evening all! X

  • Sorry you couldn't go to Scotland SSG. I'm not expecting to be able to go there in July which is a shame, but hopefully we will both get to go before too long.

Well done on making your newsaper subscription cheaper :).

I'm glad you've got a more comfortable set up for working and I hope you get all the money refunded as it sounds very unfair otherwise.
