    Went to the gym last night! Took it easy - slow walk/ jog on the runner using the "Couch to 5k" app for 25 mins then gym machines for each of the main body parts - again taking it steady - 15 reps at a reasonable weight of one set each for each machine. Still, I'm feeling a bit sore today and went to bed reasonably early last night as I felt tired when I got in!

    Yesterday from the Make Up/Toiletries Budget I spent £23 in M&S on my PK hair conditioner and Autograph lipstick (I lost my other one!:mad:) and £7.68 on a a book of stamps from the Birthday/Gifts budget. Also spent £12.63 (which included the cash on my loyalty card) in Holland & Barrett on brazils and almonds but doubled up on both packs as they were on BOGOF! I eat nuts every day so I will use up the BOGOF.

    From the Gifts/Birthday budget today I emailed £100 Amazon gift voucher to DD's OH for his birthday. I had already bought his birthday card last year! Also went for a coffee lunchtime with my friend.

    Today I'm grateful for:
    - Laughs with my friend whilst sitting outside Pret;
    - Nice glass of champagne on the firm supplied as one of the senior members of staff was leaving;
    - Homemade chili con carne which has been defrosting today so I just had to heat it up when I got in from work!

  • Today is the beginning of Scrimpy Week 2 since I got paid. I finished Week 1 with £33.17 left from ad hoc spends but will probably have to use it towards the deficit in the Birthday/Gifts budget which will come up this month. Still I have £100 for each of the next three weeks.

    Also after my big Tesco shop last week I have £8.08 left for each of the next three weeks for top up groceries.

    I've rejoined the NSD Turtles thread for February which is being run this month by abundant1972 who has given it a wonderful nautical theme! Go over to the Debt Free Challenges board and take a look if you fancy joining us aboard! Started it off well today with a NSD!

    As I pay my council tax over ten months and it was month eleven this month I've got £86 spare so have winged it over to the Emergency fund!:j. Also got home tonight and found my latest M&S loyalty vouchers had arrived -£13!

    Gratitudes:
    - a good MSE day today - cash left over from Scrimpy Week 1 ad hoc spends and council tax.
    - lovely loyalty vouchers from M&S!
    - a nice boss who helps me fight my corners at work!

    It was another NSD today. I did buy a birthday card and ordered some flowers, but these were for a client’s significant birthday and I will claim back on expenses. And got some nice loyalty points on my M&S card! – I bought the flowers online via M&S and had a voucher for triple points!

    Also, through negotiating down my broadband/phone with Sky at the weekend, plus the one-off deduction off my February bill they gave me, I have an extra £49.61 to wing over to the Emergency fund so have updated my signature again!

    Session 2 at the gym tonight – still doesn’t feel any easier, but increased the number of sets to two – new set done at 12 reps at a higher weight.

    Today I am grateful for:

    - Free slice of pizza at lunchtime – some colleagues who have joint birthdays clubbed together and bought the whole firm pizzas from Domino’s (so will keep sandwich in fridge for tomorrow).

    - Triple M&S loyalty points on flowers purchase – which actually did not cost me anything!

    - More cash for the Emergency fund!

    Well NOT a NSD today! Had to get some toiletries in Boots – hand cream, shower gel, face wipes, toothpaste (two as they were on offer), mouthwash, make up powder sponges, hairspray – came to £28.83 (but did save £6.09 on offers and got triple Advantage points)! But I’ve now a deficit of £11.83 on the Make up/Toiletries Budget and still have to get my shampoo! So on YNAB I’ve swept £11.83 over from the funds I had left at the end of last week

    Also had impromptu coffee with my friend lunchtime. She is having some problems with her eldest son and needed someone to talk it over with.

    Apart from that quiet day in work (it’s felt like Groundhog Day all week!) and so pleased it’s the weekend! No getting up at 6.00am – hooray! :j

    This weekend will also be spends – a catch up lunch locally with some girlfriends tomorrow and on Sunday sis, OH and nephew are coming round so we’ll be out for a bite to eat and hopefully over the park weather permitting!

    Will also have to stock up on fruit and veg at the weekend. Interesting to see what will be available owing to the shortage of foreign veg at the moment because of the bad weather in Spain and Italy. People only being allowed to buy one cos lettuce! Apparently we’re still all right for English parsnips and potatoes…….

    Today I'm grateful for:

    - it's the weekend! Yippee!:j
    - discounts and extra points on my toiletries bill;

    - managing to get a seat on the train this evening which was abnormally packed for some reason!

  • Thanks guys. Had a bit of a lie in today then got up, whizzed around with the housework, laundry etc.

    Went to lunch with my frends at local Italian. Enjoyable food and wine - was in there ages and had such a good laugh. They are some of my oldest friends - we all worked together locally when we were in our 20s and have always stayed close. Ended up costing £40 each with tip - it must have been all the wine consumed! I fell asleep when I got in!

    Anyway al least I woke up in time to watch the hunky Tom Hardy in Taboo!:happyhear

    Today I'm grateful for:
    - lovely, lovely lie in instead of getting up at 6.00am!
    - Good friends;
    - Tom!
