    SG your holiday sounds lovely. Hope the weather won't be too wild for you.

    Thanks bob! Weather not been bad today here after a very windy and rainy start. Actually had some blue sky!

    DD and OH just got back from their uphill walk. Took some glorious photos at the top. Wish I'd made the effort now!

    Thanks guys and welcome Frugalin! :hello:

    Had a another lovely meal last night. Some guests have gone today. Five of us left and a new couple arriving this evening.

    Last day today - boo hoo! Then long drive tomorrow back to DD's, will stay over there then early train to London and straight into work on Wednesday. :(

    DD and OH are off doing something even MORE intrepid today which I would never be able to do even if I wanted to, but hey - a comfy armchair by the roaring fire is not to be sneezed at! Weather is good today though so I'm going to have a wander around some lovely gardens just down the road this afternoon. Also saw an otter today by the loch on my way to breakfast this morning. Wonderful!

    I'm on the January Turtles NSD thread and one of our tasks this month is to post daily three things you are grateful for. So I'm going to start this on my diary as well. A few posters, I.e in need of direction etc, already do this and I think it is a lovely idea.

    So today I'm grateful for:

    Delicious breakfast with good company and lots of laughs;
    Spying an otter by the loch;
    Comfy chair by a roaring fire!

    Had a long journey yesterday from Scotland to DD's last night. Stopped off on the way and I bought us all a very nice light lunch.

    Three things I was grateful for yesterday:
    All safely home home after such a long drive;
    Lovely scenery on the way;
    Takeaway in the evening while catching up with "Sherlock!"

    Currently on train to London and going straight into work. Train paid for a few months ago - nice first class seat with breakfast which was heavily discounted as booked far in advance and used my senior railcard.

    Will report more fully on day tonight but for now one thing I'm a grateful for today is nice cheap first class train seat and a train that was on time!

    Apologies - as the following will read almost identical to my latest post on January NST thread!

    Yesterday was not a NSD day! Spends were:
    • I needed an Oyster card top up when arriving at Kings X tube;
    • Bought M&S voucher for friend's birthday;
    • £10 towards colleague's birthday present. We all contribute to everyone's birthday on our desk.
    • Had to buy face wipes in Boots as I had nearly run out and also some First Defence spray as my throat felt sore and I didn't want to end up as ill as I was in October!
    • Also had to get some fresh food supplies as I had been away. Though included in this I bought ryvitas, hummus, tomatoes and apples for lunch yesterday and to see me through till tomorrow so no splashing out on sandwiches!
    • Evening nail appointment!
    Yesterday I was grateful for:
    • Cheap first class ticket on train with free cooked breakfast due to advance booking and senior rail card discount!
    • Box of chocolate liqueurs from lovely boss awaiting me when I got to work! I'm sharing these out in work though!
    • Arriving home in the evening after being away. I love my breaks but it's wonderful to get back home!
    Today should be a NSD though!:j
    I'm going to do a proper reckoning of finances when I get home tonight as my eye has gone off the ball lately!

    Hello SSG!

    Glad to hear you had a lovely time in Scotland, a roaring fire and and an armchair are two of my all time favourite things! I bought my house more or less on the basis that the open fire was still functional...

    Some days, best will in the world, are never going to be NSDs! I've been at my OH's for a week and am now looking forward to getting home - although that also means I'll be a day closer to going back to work :( I do love my job, but I still get those 'oh do I really have to work for a living?!' moments!!
