  • Your mini break with DD sounds lovely :). I agree catching up time is important after going away. I don't understand why travelling is so tiring (particularly car journeys) as you're just sitting there, it would be different if you'd walked! But I'm always exhausted after travelling.

Your customers sound lovely to give you presents. It was generous of you to give booze to the Pret staff :).

  • Thanks peeps!

So last night I was late getting home as I went to the hairdressers (budgeted spends!). Alarm went off this morning and I hit the stop button rather than the snooze so was totally late into work this morning!

Tonight I'm meeting up in the City with two friends I used to work with. We're going for a drink at our favourite wine bar, where I've managed to book a table as it will be bedlam out there this evening. Afterwards we're off for our Christmas meal to a Thai restaurant so won't be home till late tonight Good job it's Saturday tomorrow and I can have a lie in!:)

Tomorrow I'll be wrapping up the last of the presents and doing the housework and will probably go for a mooch down our local high street. On Sunday my friend and I are off to see the new 'Star Wars' film, which DD saw last night and said was fab.

Monday night is a bit of a rush – I'm in work that day and my last day in is on Christmas Eve. One of my cousins is 60 on Monday and her OH is throwing a surprise party for her that evening! I think having a party on a week night the evening before Christmas Eve is down to the fact that (a) I don't think he could book the venue he wanted at the weekend as everything has been taken for Christmas events; and (b) he is a man and therefore doesn't appreciate the work that most women with a family have to do via running around the day before Christmas Eve!

The birthday girl likes a drink so I bought her a nice, boxed bottle of Moet a couple of weeks ago - £27 on offer in Tesco.

Anyway I'm rushing off now – catch up later!

Hope you enjoyed your meal out. Have a lovely weekend and party on Monday and of course have a lovely Christmas if I don’t get chance to get on here before the main event.

We had friends who got married the day before Xmas eve a few years ago. Such a lovely, romantic idea but all the female guests (particularly me) looked completely frazzled.

    Thank you all!

Re the party - DSis saw my cousin a couple of weeks ago - my cousin said she was glad she wasn't having a party and that she would prefer to go out for a nice meal with her immediate family and then have a trip abroad with her OH next year! Of course DSis couldn't say anything but we think that as she hasn't got to do any of the organising she will really enjoy herself! I didn't want anything special on my 60th but DSis threw me a surprise party anyway and I really enjoyed it!

My meal out last night was great! Good food and company and we put the world to rights! We had a good old reminisce - my friend reminded us of the time years ago back in the 80s when we all went on the 'Pineapple Diet' that was all the rage then! She ended up with sores on her mouth because of all the fresh Pineapple you had to eat! I wouldn't mind but none of us needed to lose weight when you look at photos of us then!

Anyway including wine at the wine bar, the night cost me £53 which I didn't think bad for the City.

The other thing was DD and OH sent me a little vegan Christmas hamper which arrived in work yesterday afternoon and as I had to pack it up to take home with that evening It ended up going to the restaurant as well! And when I arrived at my home station at 11.30pm there were no taxis to be for love nor money so I ended up trudging up the vertical hill with it!

Other spends yesterday was £1 for to the firefighters charity at the station and £20 to two colleagues who were part of the recent big charity sleep out at Trafalgar Square to raise money for the homeless.

Today I had a mooch down the high street - only bought some bread and some Doritos and nuts in Tesco as one of my friends is popping in after work for a glass of Christmas cheer!

Afterwards I'm going to cook my little vegan roast that was in the hamper which should cover dinner for the next few nights! Then a night with feet up watching the box!:)

  • £53 including the bar is good value for the City. It sounds as if you had a great time. I had to laugh at the girl with sores in her mouth from all the fresh pineapple :)
