I haven't eaten meat for over 30 years and don't eat faux meat. It's the appearance/texture etc of meat I don't like. I got listeria from a beef lasagne when I was pregnant and lost the baby, I stopped eating meat from then onwards. I just have things made from vegetables, pulses and beans.

Enjoy the party. I don't blame you for not eating it after that.

I eat meat but if I didn’t I wouldn’t want to substitute it with fake meat - I’ll happily eat veg, pulses etc and often do in place of meat. I’m sorry to hear your reasons for not eating meat SA - that’s so sad - I don’t think I’d eat meat in those circumstances either. Don’t think I could go vegan though - that must take some doing - hats off to you SSG.
Hope the party has gone down well and she enjoyed the surprise.

Whilst I am not vegan & have never really looked into it, I quite often substitute mushrooms for meat rather than a fake meat. I always worry about what they use to fake it, especially the taste. I know that there are some "fakes" that my stomach finds it doesn't agree with.0

Isn't fake meat usually made of soya or some type of vegetable protein? Quorn is made of some type of fungus which sounds horrible but I do like it. I think they can both be useful in recipes but I often cook tasty meals using just beans or lentils and vegetables. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
