  • Hi Hairy and milann! Yes - I hope she comes back soon.

I haven't had any more Ad Hoc spends this week since I last posted. However, I went out with my girl colleagues yesterday lunchtime to have the Christmas lunch that we ended up not having last year! We went to a smashing cheese and wine place nearby and sat out outside and basked in the unseasonably warm weather! So after a platter of delicious cheese and breads (plus wine!), I spent £30 from the Entertainment pot.

Last night I had my nails done and also bought cheddar (£2.50) that was on offer in the Co-op.

One of my colleagues sells make-up and skin care online – she was having a flash sale today and I've bought a lipstick in a very nice shade of pink (£10 – Toilietries/Make Up pot). I've picked it out from her catalogue so I hope I like it when it arrives.

Tonight I'm out with one of retired friends as I haven't seen her since before Christmas– we're meeting in the City so it won't be mega-cheap! :( The Entertainments pot will take another bashing!

I hope that I still see some sort of weight loss on Monday after all this socialising.:o

The rest of the week and weekend will be quiet. I was going out tomorrow night as somebody in work is having leaving drinks, but I think I will miss it as I'm out tonight and I'm on a 500 calorie day tomorrow anyway. I'll buy her some goodbye chocs though.

Nothing booked for the weekend apart from a pedicure on Saturday morning. I won't be off to the cinema this Sunday as my friend is out with her family.

Well done on yet more weight loss :)

Glad to hear your friend is perking up. She'll feel a lot better once she's back in her own home.

Don't worry about your entertainments pot taking such a bashing, at least you're having a good time and that's what counts :)

  • You sound like you've had a good and social week :). I hope it doesn't affect the weight loss.

Have a lovely relaxing weekend :).

    Thanks guys!

Inod and brizzle – the 500 cal days seem to gel for me if I keep them to work days. I'm usually quite busy so the day speeds by fairly quickly. There's no vending machines in work as well so I can't buy any chocolate or crisps! Evenings are the worst as I have my soup and ryvitas and some nights could quite easily pick at things afterwards whilst watching the TV! I gnaw on a raw carrot!

However, I weighed myself this morning and have stayed the same as last week. :( I think my socialising has taken its toll so I'm definitely going be quite ruthless this week. I am out for dinner later on in the week though, but will endeavour to be good for the rest of the time.

For instance, last Thursday, I ended up spending £35 when I met up with my friend – we had a bottle of wine each and a platter of little picky bits. You can chose three types for £15 – we had mini sausages, tempura prawns and Kentucky fried chicken! It was very tasty but obviously didn't help with the weight loss…:o

Plus, I ended up having an impromptu lunch with two friends on Saturday at one of the local Italian restaurants - £28.70!

So both the weight-loss and the Entertainment budget have been hit hard!

Apart from the above, I bought two birthday cards (£2.50) on Friday and on Saturday had the food bank spends (£11.36) and my pedicure (£24).

Yesterday I stayed in all day and didn't spend out on anything! I did brighten up the living room though as 1st March is the start of spring for me! I got out all my light coloured cushions and swapped them with my darker winter types which I have put away till November. I also switched my diffuser to a lighter fragrance (peony and geranium - lovely!). Helped cheer me up what with the dark and rainy weather outside.

Today I bought the weekly lunchtime Pret coffees for me and my friend from the Ad Hoc spends - £5.10. Nothing else to spend on today, although tomorrow night I have my hair appointment.

PPI update: I still have Lloyd's, Post Office and Sainsbury to report back to me. All the providers of my other cards have confirmed I didn't have PPI with them. I also rang up the provider of the two old loans I had just to make sure that they had received back the forms I sent them last month. They confirmed that they did and would be replying with an answer on or before the end of this month.

I do like the idea of spring and winter cushions and fragrances. I want some hyacinths in the kitchen, for me that is the smell of spring.

Where do you get your diffusers from SSG? I don't have much luck with them and the smell disappears quite quickly even the M&S ones. I suspect you have to spend a fair bit to get a decent one.

At least you STS after the socialising, I think that's good.

I think it's fab how you factor in the little treats for yourself :)

  • I hope you can get back on track with the weight loss this week, eating out does make it a lot harder. At least you have a good and active social life though :).

It was awful weather here too on Sunday.

I usually buy Neom diffusers SA. They're a bit pricier (c.£30) than M&S but I find their fragrance lasts quite a while. I buy them in a local shop but they are sold widely.

The diffuser I put in the living room at the weekend is by a company called Stoneglow. I bought it because I had a gift voucher for the local shop selling them. The scent is lovely, but doesn't smell that strong so I'm not sure it's going to last as long as some others.

At the Christmas Fair that I went to last year I bought some by a company called Valentte. They were on offer for two diffusers and a scent spray for £25. I bought a lemongrass & rosemary and a cardamom & nutmeg. . The lemon one I put in the bathroom and it was really strong and citrusy and lasted ages. I'm using the cardamom at the moment - it's more subtle but very nice. I'll probably hunt them down online and buy some more.

I agree Hairy that eating out can scupper the diet plans. The trouble with me is that when I eat out I see it as a treat so I like to eat what I want. And that doesn't usually usually mean the most uncalorific items on the menu!:o
