Quidco not paying out

Hello,
Wonder what everyone's thoughts are on this.
I took a boiler cover out with NPower, through Quidco.
It was an awesome deal.. And the only reason I took it out with NPower... £80 cash back after 3 months.
So I took it out, and paid as usual. I waited 6 months (all properly tracked) and then chased quidco. They told me to wait, basically.
At 9months,chased again, and they opened a case. Another 3 months went by, and they've just told me that it's been declined by NPower, as it doesn't meet the T&Cs... But that they weren't told which T&Cs. (exact wording below)
I spoke with NPower about this and they wouldn't really talk to me directly about it, as they use an intermediate party to organise, but that they'd made all payments, and it was a problem with this other business.
I feel a bit conned by this.. I kind of felt it was a part of the decision I made, and no one wants to take ownership, if it was £8 I'd probably let it slide.. But to get no explanation?
I’m very sorry to inform you that on this occasion your claim has been declined because you did not meet the terms and conditions of their offer. We were not provided with specific details about which terms and conditions you did not fulfil but we’d like to assure you that we have looked into this for you further, prior to contacting you today, as we like to do everything we can to obtain payment for you

It is nothing to do with Quidco. You click via their website through a 3rd party ad agency to NPower. If Npower do not pay the agency then Quidco don't get paid then you don't get paid.0

Yes I've found that when you get the "You didn't go by the T&Cs" its pretty useless. I chased and chased for £2 and eventually they gave it to me.
To me some times it's a bit of con, companies can decide you didn't follow some T&Cs but don't have to tell you what.0 -

Yeah that's what I thought.
But quidco must have some duty of care don't they? Otherwise they run the perfect business.. Money in.. No responsibility.0 -
If the deal was advertised via Quido it is their responsibility otherwise it is a breach of advertising law. You do have a right to know by what T&C the promised offer was declined. But I assume that most people give up on pursuing their rights as it being too much hassle. You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

Thats exactly what I mean Laurie.
Part of me thinks Quidco is a "nice to have" , but if you don't get it, that's life.
But when it's £80 and formed your decision to take a product (maybe it shouldn't) then it leaves a sour taste in the mouth.
Quidco seem to be able to run a business that makes money yet doesn't have to have any responsibility for what they do..0 -
They are very clear that you shouldn't base buying decisions on the cashback. I've had to chase a lot and sometimes wonder if it is worth the hassle, but I have always been paid. Looking at the history and comments is worthwhile, as some companies have a very poor reputation, whilst others seem to payout very well.
I took broadband / phone from SSE a few months ago. It is a cracking deal anyway with 18 months free fibre broadband. There was £130 cashback which was really the icing on top.
It hasn't tracked though and I've raised a claim, with no response to date. I see the fault as squarely with SSE. If Quidco don't get the money they can't give it to me.0 -
Mine absolutely did track though. All was fine until I got a decline a year later... No one will tell me wh.
Is almost like quidco can't fail.. If you get cashback it's a great website, if you don't, it's not their fault.
They appear to have no responsibility in anything.0 -
Isn't it the case that some customers are taking Quidco to the small claims track for non payment and successfully proved that they had followed all the terms and conditions required for cashback payout?
Remember seeing the post either in this section or in the Cashback threads on this forum.
Plus if they bought the product on the basis they would receive cashback then like a poster above has said it's breach of advertising law.0 -

I don't understand. Did you take the product out on the sole basis of the cashback or just felt it was just a part of the decision made?0 -
It was part of the decision made.
But I think ultimately that's not the main issue, just another annoyance. It's almost like they said I'd get something, then a year later tell me I get nothing. No reasons, no recourse..
Like they've got no responsibility to fulfil.. Which business gets away with not having to provide their product (plenty of businesses get let down along their supply chain, but they can't withdraw the promise to their buyer on that basis)0
