If the deal was advertised via Quido it is their responsibility otherwise it is a breach of advertising law.

Complete rubbish they make it perfectly clear it's not guaranteed because of possible problems at the users end.

It's all in the T&C's and you didn't read them then who's faults that then?

Problem is Quidco Customer Service is non existent. They make no effort to try to resolve issues with the retailers when problems arise.

I made seven separate bookings with Hotels.com through Quidco for a touring holiday in Canada in June. Total cost (excluding fees and taxes) £1858. Total cashback expected £223. Total cashback received £120.

Five bookings were prepaid with the payments taken directly at time of booking by Hotels.com. The other two bookings were an arrangement where the Hotelier took the money directly using the CC details that I supplied to Hotels.com. Neither of these have paid out. One has been declined, the other still has a status of tracked.

For the declined claim, I raised a missing cashback claim. It came back saying the booking had been cancelled. I sent Quidco evidence that the booking had not been cancelled - copies of my CC statement, a receipt from the Hotel, and a print out from my Hotels.com account showing the booking has been completed. Quidco have not made any attempt to remedy this. They have simply sent immediate generic responses and closed my claim.

There is obviously a fault with Hotels.com, but Quidco do nothing to try to help. They just want easy money. Zero customer service when things go wrong.

    Touchy touchy.

Actually I did read the T&C's, and feel I met them. If you have a little read above, they can't and won't tell me what I didn't meet.. I wouldn't have put this post on if I hadn't have fullfilled them.

If you're happy that quidco can dictate rules, without doing what they say they will and blaming a middleman, then fair enough.

Ill bet there's a lot of businesses out there who would love to not provide a service because someone in their supply chain let them down right?

pretty shoddy- the firm is getting extra business through QC, they need to pay up commissions due.

I was just looking further at Hotels.com on the Quidco site.

Quidco claim 100% tracking reliability. However, this is meaningless. Purchases track, but then don't pay out!

If you look at reviews for Hotels.com, the first 12 it shows you are all five star and go back over a year. But click to look only at 1 star reviews, and you will see six reviews just from the last 18 days where people have not the cashback they expected.

Quidco use misleading data to raise expectations of a hassle free experience, and then refuse to help when things go wrong.

    Yeah that's what I thought.
But quidco must have some duty of care don't they? Otherwise they run the perfect business.. Money in.. No responsibility.

If people were not getting paid then people would stop using Quidco. Given that people are using Quidco and being paid your thesis falls at the first hurdle.

Problems at the users end relates to purchases not tracking due to issues like pop up blockers.

This purchase did track ergo there were no problems at the users end.

People will obviously continue to use Quidco. A 50% chance of getting cashback is better than going directly to the retailer for no cashback.

The difficulty arises where Quidco and TCB offer different rates. I've found TCB to be very good at chasing the retailer when they don't pay out. So in future, do I use Quidco with 10% possible cashback, or TCB with 8% possible cashback? If the rates are the same, I will be using TCB over Quidco.

But I know other people would say the opposite!

Like me! 2 purchases through TCB, 2 failed to track. Never had a failure to track with Quidco.

I have had to make claims with Quidco where cashback is delayed, which they've promptly resolved, and never had a purchase decline. Some people will always have better experiences than others.
Excuse any mis-spelt replies, there's probably a cat sat on the keyboard
