So, do I just sit and wait for the 7 days to pass

NO!! They are saying there is a POPLA code so email straight back for that POPLA code and give them till Friday to supply it/a copy of the rejection letter or you'll report them to the DVLA for withholding it.

I smell a rat and a soon to expire POPLA code. I doubt this is a coincidence:

Are MET even bothering to send out POPLA codes at all or are they generating but sitting on them till they expire, one wonders?

Hi everyone, once again thanks to coupon mad for being my saviour.

I have prepared the following email and just wanted to make sure it was ok. I wanted to double check with coupon mad as the email the day before said within 7 days but then told me to ask for it by friday, is that of this week or next week.

I think you missed the meaning of my email.

I need you to supply me with a popla code by email by the latest tomorrow.

As I stated in my email- you appear to have overlooked my POPLA code. I assume this was an error on your part because a keeper/hirer is entitled to appeal to POPLA as long as they appealed in time following receipt of the NTK (or NTH in this case).

Should MET withhold my POPLA code yet continue to process my data, despite you being aware that you are unable to hold me liable for this charge, I will be reporting you to the Information Commissioner for your Data Protection breach.

For the avoidance of doubt, I do not consent to MET processing my data and (unless you send me a POPLA code as you were required under your ATA Code of Practice to do) you have no reasonable cause to continue to store and use (and certainly not share) my data. You have exhausted your enquiries as regards inviting me to name the driver, which was the only reason the DVLA supplied my name and address and the only excuse you had to write to me at all.

As such, your only remaining options were (and are) to offer me a POPLA code or cancel the charge. If I do not receive my POPLA code by return, within seven days, I will as a first step, report MET to the BPA and also by direct email to Mr Dunford at the DVLA.

I would change the:

'within seven days, I will as a first step, report MET to the BPA and also by direct email to Mr Dunford at the DVLA' to

'by the end of this week (i.e. Friday, on receipt of this email). It seems to me that MET are trying to withhold a soon-to expire POPLA code. I am entitled to 28 days to appeal to POPLA. If you do not supply a code until close to/after the expiry date, then Mr Dunford at the DVLA will be hearing from me about your sharp practice, as well as Mr Clark at the BPA and the Information Commissioner.

Thank you for that coupon mad, I have sent it off so lets see what their reply is. I think they think people will just give up because it becomes hard to do this especially if they dont know about this site.

I thank you all, what a great job you do, I have searched this site as I wanted to I let someone know how much you have helped me coupon mad, you know a pat on the back an award for going above and beyond but I couldn't find anything, so if anyone is looking at my post and knows how to do it, i would like to nominate Coupon Mad for an award. And for you coupon mad Its because I have difficulties and especially memory ones being doped up on morphine makes doing things like this especially hard for me and I cant tell you enough how much you have helped me x God bless x

Hi everyone,

Well I have received no reply from MET about my popla code. I'm presuming I know have to get in touch with Mr Dunford at the DVLA, Mr Clarke at the BPA and the information commissioner.

Any help or guidance on what to write to each of these would be appreciated.

Well I am looking and reading to prepare my poplar.

I have copied and pasted them and will then use what is relevant to me, I have only looked at a few posts but i know have 128 pages with 40,043 words, so I am going to be busy for a while. I will pop back to check

Are you serious???? Just take post #28, adapt it and submit that. Keep it simple and to the point. If you include the kitchen sink, don't be surprised if the appeal goes down the plug hole.

I suspect she means she has copy and pasted a load of stuff from various POPLA threads and has to read through them to pull together her appeal.
